Another day, another Top 30 visit to Tampa Bay becomes known. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Bucs are hosting Alabama running back Jahmyr Gibbs at the team facility on Wednesday. Gibbs was the only running back that the Bucs had a formal meeting with at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Gibbs makes the 16th known Top 30 visit for the Bucs this year so far. The only other running back that is known to have visited the team on a Top 30 visit is Texas’ Roschon Johnson, who had an informal interview with the team at the NFL Scouting Combine.

After playing two seasons at Georgia Tech, Gibbs transferred to Alabama where he rushed for 926 yards and seven touchdowns on 151 carries (6.1 avg.). Gibbs shined as a receiver out of the backfield where he caught 44 passes for 444 yards (10.1 avg.) and three touchdowns for the Crimson Tide.

At Georgia Tech, Gibbs put him similar numbers, rushing for 746 yards and four touchdowns (5.2 avg.) on 143 carries in 2021. He also caught 35 passes for 465 yards (13.3 avg.) with two touchdowns. In his first season of action for the Yellowjackets, Gibbs ran for 460 yards and four touchdowns, while averaging 5.2 avg in 2020. He also caught 24 passes for 303 yards (12.3 avg.) with three TDs.

Gibbs’ all-purpose skills remind NFL teams of a faster version of New Orleans’ Pro Bowler Alvin Kamara. The 5-foot-9, 199-pound Gibbs blazed a 4.36 in the 40-yard dash with a 1.52 10-yard split.

Gibbs figures to be a Day 2 draft pick, likely in the second round.
