Following practice on Tuesday, Bucs head coach Bruce Arians announced that K Ryan Succop has tested positive for COVID-19. Succop is vaccinated. The Bucs kicker went to dinner with some Titans players last week, one of whom was a close contact with someone else who tested positive for COVID-19. Succop will miss Saturday’s preseason game against the Houston Texans.

“We had one that went to dinner with some guys that did test positive today,” Arians said. “He (Ryan Succop) went to dinner with some Titans friends. So he’s out for this game.”
Succop should not be in any danger of missing regular season action. The Bucs don’t play the Cowboys for another 16 days, so he’ll have plenty of time to recover. After struggling to open training camp, the veteran has been much better in practice lately. The former Titans kicker nailed a 49-yard field goal on Saturday against his old team. It was Succop’s only field goal attempt of the preseason.
Succop signed a three-year, $12-million contract with the Bucs this offseason. The 34-year old broke Matt Bryant’s franchise record of 131 points (set in 2008) in a single season with 136 points last year. Succop made 28-of-31 field goals (90.3) and 52-of-57 (91.2) extra points in 2020.
Two days after Titans head coach Mike Vrabel tested positive for COVID-19, the Bucs appear to have dodged a bullet. No players other than Succop have tested positive as of Tuesday, August 24.
