The Bucs are continuing to embrace the 50th season of Buccaneers football in style.

After unveiling the alternate throwback uniform earlier this week and announcing they will wear them in Week 3 against the Jets during their home opener, they will also be rocking them just a couple of weeks later in Week 5 on the road against the Seahawks. That game is scheduled for Sunday, October 5th at 4:05 p.m. at Lumen Field and will air on CBS.

Week 5 Matchup Between Bucs-Seahawks Will Be An Elite Uniform Matchup

The Bucs and Seahawks both released separate social media posts that they will be rocking their throwback uniforms in Week 5. With each team entering their respective 50th seasons after entering the NFL in 1976, it will be a true retro game rocking some of the best threads in football.

It is quite fitting, literally.

Tampa Bay’s all-white throwbacks, while short-lived, evoke a sense of pride among the fanbase that has long rooted for them. Although the history behind them is one of losing football during an 0-14 first season, it was humble beginnings to get the franchise to where they are now.

This ’76 Jersey will feature a special Creamsicle 50th season patch but stays true to its roots with one orange stripe between two red ones on the sleeves and the original white Bucco Bruce helmets, white pants and striped socks. Regardless of the team’s lack of success wearing them originally, this season is a chance to rewrite history in a more positive manner.

Seeing players like quarterback Baker Mayfield, wide receiver Mike Evans, inside linebacker Lavonte David, among others, rock the iconic look will be one of the best blends of the past and future coming together that you will ever see.

It is hard to argue that the uniform’s rollout could not have gone better, with a sentimental three-and-a-half minute video featuring some of the best all-time Bucs coming together and the team perfectly capturing the look and what it represents.

“The ’76 Jersey represents a piece of Buccaneers history and serves as a tribute to the generations of fans and players who shaped this franchise,” Bucs chief operating officer Brian Ford said earlier this week. “As we launch into our 50th season, we’re proud to reintroduce The ’76 Jersey and the tradition it embodies. It is a reminder that every Buccaneers fan, from the originals to the newest generation, is part of an evolving story that started in 1976 and continues being written today.”

What the Bucs and Seahawks making this announcement also means is that the creamsicle uniforms will be worn three times this season. It will kick off with two games rocking the new alternate throwbacks in Weeks 3 and 5 before donning the orange creamsicles in Week 15 in a Primetime Thursday Night Football matchup against the Falcons.
