Latest Bucs Headlines

Following their 19-16 overtime victory Sunday night, the Bucs have made several roster moves in the wake of various injuries they have been attempting to deal with. According to Greg Auman of Fox Sports, Tampa Bay has placed offensive Tackle Josh Wells on injured reserve, and effectively ending his season.

The Bucs have elected to fill Wells’ roster spot by signing linebacker J.J. Russell to the active roster from the team’s practice squad. The team has also re-signed offensive tackle Dylan Cook to their practice squad while also signing veteran free agent Ifeadi Odenigbo to the practice squad as well.

Russell should be able to provide the Bucs with special teams help as many of their special teamers are currently banged up. Odenigbo and Cook would both be available Sunday as practice squad elevations to provide depth at positions that are currently suffering from numerous injuries.

With Wells’ IR designation, starting left tackle Donovan Smith dealing with a foot injury and starting right tackle Tristan Wirfs having re-aggravated and ankle injury in Arizona, there is a real chance

the team may have to play Cook this upcoming week against the Panthers. Currently the only fully healthy tackle on the roster is Brandon Walton, who had his ups and downs in relief of Wells on Sunday. If he were to play on Sunday, it would be the first career action for the undrafted rookie out of Montana.

Odenigbo is currently in his fourth season in the NFL after being drafted in the 7th round of the 2017 draft by the Minnesota Vikings. The six-foot-three, 258 pound edge rusher played in parts of 13 games this season with the Indianapolis Colts. He registered 12 combined tackles, three tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks over that time period. For his career Odenigbo has 14 sacks and 84 combined tackles. Per Pro Football Focus, Odenigbo has 18 pressures this season on 144 pass rush snaps as a situational rusher. That 12.5% pressure rate could prove useful to an outside linebacker room that currently only sports two healthy rushers in Joe Tryon-Shoyinka and Anthony Nelson. Both Carl Nassib and Genard Avery missed the Cardinals game due to injury and star outside linebacker Shaq Barrett is out for the season on injured reserve.
