Bucs Get Tackle-Heavy In Latest Mock Drafts

Daniel Jeremiah – NFL.com

Bucs’ 1st-Round Pick: Kentucky QB Will Levis

“If Levis starts to slide, I believe a team like Tampa Bay will trade up to get him. In this scenario, he falls right into the Bucs’ lap. Levis would compete with Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask for the starting job.”

Josh Kendall – The Athletic

Bucs’ 1st-Round Draft Pick: Tennessee OT Darnell Wright

“This is a timeline pick for Tampa Bay. It was very tempting to go with Texas running back Bijan Robinson here, but it doesn’t make a lot of sense in the long run. Pairing Wright, who turned a lot of heads at the combine, with Tristan Wirfs gives the Bucs a very good young duo at tackle, which should make for a welcoming home for the rookie quarterback that looks headed to this team in 2024.”

Bucs’ 1st-Round Pick: Tennessee OT Darnell Wright

“A 6-5, 333-pound, All-SEC selection, Wright would be a nice pickup for a Bucs offense in near-total transition. He has experience at both left and right tackle but might be best deployed on the right side if All-Pro Tristan Wirfs moves to QB Baker Mayfield’s blind side following the departure of longtime LT Donovan Smith. And, assuming this team runs more, backs should do well by following in Wright’s wake.”

Pete Prisco – CBS Sports

Bucs’ 1st-Round Draft Pick: Tennessee OT Darnell Wright

“Darnell Wright is a player scouts love, especially after he dominated Will Anderson Jr. Wright would step in at right tackle and let Tristan Wirfs move to the left side.”

Sam Monson & Steve Palazzolo – Pro Football Focus

Bucs’ 1st-Round Draft Pick: Oklahoma OT Anton Harrison

“Harrison could have really upped his draft stock with another year in a college weight room. He may have to be “redshirted” out the gate, but I’d bet money on him being a plus pass protector in time.”

Bucs’ 1st-Round Pick: Alabama DB Brian Branch

“The Bucs managed to re-sign Jamel Dean, who will once again team up with Carlton Davis III to give Tampa Bay one of the league’s better corner tandems. But they’ve lost their nickelback in Sean Murphy-Bunting, and nearly all of their safeties are free agents. Branch lined up both in the slot and on the back end for Nick Saban, and would be the perfect fit for Todd Bowles’ defense here.”

Bucs’ 1st-Round Pick: Georgia Edge Nolan Smith

“Blowing up the Combine, Nolan Smith ran through drills and leaped out of the gym. That was all evident in his tape at Georgia, but with how stacked the Bulldogs’ front was over the past few years, we weren’t sure if that was a flash in the pan or just who he was.

“After torching records, we know Smith is as athletic as they come and truly an ascending edge rusher for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to rely on for years to come.”

Walter Cherepinsky – Walter Football

Bucs’ 1st-Round Pick: Tennessee OT Darnell Wright
Bucs’ 2nd-Round Draft Pick: Stanford QB Tanner McKee
Bucs’ 3rd-Round Pick: Northwestern DT Adetomiwa Adebawore

“The Buccaneers have a huge hole at left tackle after cutting Donovan Smith. Their current left tackle is someone named Brandon Walton, so something must be done about this.”

Danny Kelly – The Ringer

Bucs’ 1st-Round Pick: Ohio State OT Dawand Jones

“After releasing longtime starter Donovan Smith, the Buccaneers need some help on the offensive line. With Tristan Wirfs a potential successor at left tackle, the Buccaneers grab a day-one starter on the right side in Jones. He’s a mountain of a man who will add intensity and power to the team’s offensive line.”

Mel Kiper – ESPN

Bucs’ 1st-Round Pick: Tennessee OT Darnell Wright

“Is Tampa Bay rebuilding now that Tom Brady is gone? Its moves don’t suggest so, particularly in bringing back veteran linebacker Lavonte David. And with Baker Mayfield set to battle Kyle Trask for the starting quarterback job, maybe the Bucs believe they can win the NFC South again. If that’s the case, they need an instant starter at right tackle. Tristan Wirfs is moving over to the left side, so there’s a void. The 6-foot-5, 333-pound Wright started 42 games in college, including 27 at right tackle. This would be a move to get new offensive coordinator Dave Canales off to the best start, no matter the quarterback.

“If the Bucs really want to get wild, they could take running back Bijan Robinson here. I’ve had trouble finding the perfect landing spot for him, though I do think he’ll go Round 1.”
