It was another embarrassing loss for the Bucs on Thursday Night football, falling to the Ravens 27-22. While the score appeared close, the game was nothing but. To make matters worse the Bucs have appeared to lose one of their best defensive players for the year.

Outside linebacker Shaq Barrett left the game early in the second half and was carted to the locker room with an ankle injury. During his post game press head coach Todd Bowles gave an update on the Pro Bowler.

“He has an Achilles right now, we’ll wait for the MRI, but it doesn’t look good,” Bowles said.

Barrett Was Just Starting To Play Well For The Bucs

It’s a huge blow for the Bucs defense. Barrett was playing well before his injury, consistently getting pressure on Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson and getting to him for a sack. The Bucs have been struggling to rush after the passer this year and will now have to rely on Anthony Nelson, Carl Nassib, and Genard Avery to platoon across from Joe Tryon-Shoyinka.

With the mini bye coming up the Bucs will need to evaluate all options, including exploring trades. Marquee players such as Panthers Brian Burns, Broncos Bradley Chubb and Jaguars Josh Allen have been rumored to potentially be available. Barrett has 31 tackles, three sacks and a fumble on the year.
