The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Tuesday that they placed offensive lineman Evan Smith and running back Shaun Wilson on injured reserve. To fill their roster spots, the team re-signed linebacker Kevin Minter and promoted practice squad running back Dare Ogunbowale to the active roster.
Minter played in one game for Tampa Bay earlier in the season and was originally a second-round draft pick of the Arizona Cardinals in 2013. With linebacker Lavonte David dealing with an MCL sprain, Minter could possibly find his way into the LB rotation on Sunday against the Giants.
After spending time on the Bucs practice squad in 2017 and getting more reps in August during in the preseason, Ogunbowale finally makes his way to Tampa Bay’s active roster to replace Wilson. The second-year pro out of Wisconsin may see some action as the team’s third running back as long as Ronald Jones remains out with a hamstring injury.
To replace Ogunbowale on the practice squad, the team signed running back Ralph Webb. Webb entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the New England Patriots and spent the first five weeks of the season on their practice squad. The Gainesville native played at Vanderbilt and finished his college career as the school’s all-time rushing leader with 4,178 yards.
