The NFLPA has released their 2024 Team Report Cards, and the Bucs were not at the top of the class. The league received 1,706 responses from their players to create a comprehensive overview about each individual club across 11 categories: treatment of families, food/cafeteria, nutritionist/dietician, locker room, training room, training staff, weight room, strength coaches, team travel, head coach, and ownership.
How did the Bucs fare? Let’s find out.
Bucs Rank 24th Overall
Tampa Bay failed to rank Top 10 in any area. The team’s best showing was in the area of strength coaches where the team received an A-, which ranked 11th overall. They had four grades in the B-range and two C- grades. But the most egregious grades came in treatment of families (F), team travel (F) and ownership (D-).
For treatment of families, where the team ranked 28th, the survey highlights two main areas of opportunity.
- They are one of 12 teams that do not provide a family room during games.
- They provide daycare but charge $90 per child.
Most teams provide family rooms and childcare for free. It would seem for a multibillion-dollar enterprise like an NFL team that small things like that would be a given.
For team travel, the Bucs’ F grade was worst in the league. Players took issue with the travel schedule (28th), amount of personal space during flights (27th), forcing younger players to have roommates unless they pay $1,750, and having players sit in the back of the plane while team staff get first class seats.
Bucs ownership, which ranked 29th overall, received a 6.1 out of 10 from players when considering his willingness to invest in the team’s facilities.
Bucs HC Todd Bowles Receives Solid Grade – But Ranks Low
For “Head Coach” respondents gave Todd Bowles a B-, which in and of itself is not a bad grade overall. That is until that grade is basically on a curve. Bowles ranked 26th out of 32 overall.
Only the Falcons, Commanders and Raiders received worse grades.
All three of those teams changed head coaches this past season.

Despite Low Grade, Bucs Actually Improved in 2024
Despite ranking just outside of the bottom quarter of the league the Bucs actually improved from 2023, when they ranked 26th overall. Notably nutrition went from a D to a B, training room went from a C+ to a B-. But there were just as many categories that fell.
Treatment of Families went from a D+ to an F, weight room went from a B+ to a B, strength coaches went from an A to an A-, training staff went from an A- to a B.
Ownership and head coach were both categories not included last year.
Following the release of the report the NFL provided an official response.
