Opeta Missed 2024 Season With Bucs

The Bucs signed Opeta last year to compete with Ben Bredeson for the starting left guard spot. Unfortunately, he suffered a torn ACL in training camp and missed the entire season. Bredeson went on to have a solid season as Tampa Bay’s offensive line was considered one of the five best in the NFL. Now a year later, Bredeson signed a three-year, $22 million deal to remain with the team while Opeta also stays and is recovered from his injury.
He went undrafted out of Weber State but signed on with the Philadelphia Eagles where he spent four seasons. In his first year, Opeta bounced from the practice squad to the main roster, but was a mainly on the active roster for the next three seasons with some brief trips to the practice squad for some roster moves. In his career, Opeta has played in 38 games while starting in 10. In 2023 he was in for 13 and had six starts, which provides the Bucs with value if they want to consider him for a starting role.
Tampa Bay brought back back Opeta as a depth piece that will also have 2024 sixth round pick Elijah Klein on the interior. Klein made strides last season and could play an important role. With all five starters back on the offensive line, the Bucs have made sure to solidify their depth at the position as well.
