The Bucs are continuing to bolster their pass rush from within. Following the re-signing of outside linebacker Anthony Nelson earlier this week the Bucs are also re-signing Cam Gill per Greg Auman of Fox Sports.
Bucs are re-signing outside linebacker Cam Gill, who missed last year with a Lisfranc injury. Key special teams player from 2020-21 after making team as an undrafted rookie from Wagner. Had 1.5 sacks in 2021.

Gill, a former undrafted free agent out of Wagner in 2020 spent his first two years with the Bucs bouncing from the practice squad to the active roster as mainly a special teams contributor. Over that time period he recorded 17 combined tackles and 1.5 sacks.
The undersized outside linebacker looked to be ascending as he entered training camp in 2022 and the Bucs were hoping he could be a bigger part of their defensive pass rush last year. Unfortunately, a Lis franc injury brought all of those plans to a screeching halt. Tampa Bay would place Gill on injured reserve prior to the start of the regular season ending any hope of Gill returning to action that season.
Bucs Wanted Cam Gill Back To Return For Defensive Depth, Special Teams
Gill was a restricted free agent, but the Bucs opted to not tender him a contract under the RFA program.

Instead, they allowed him to hit unrestricted free agency before they brought him back. The deal is for just one year, and while the monetary amount is currently unknown, it shouldn’t be for much more than the league minimum for his service time if that.
Gill now slots in behind Nelson, Joe Tryon-Shoyinka and Shaq Barrett on the outside linebacker depth chart. He offers a limited but impressive skill set that can be utilized on late and long opportunities, but should not be counted as a lock to make the team necessarily.
