Latest Bucs Headlines

Heading into Week 12, the Bucs are looking to build on their back-to-back wins over the Rams and Seahawks before the bye week. And they have a favorable matchup as they try to do so, heading to Cleveland to meet with the 3-7 Browns.

Tampa Bay did well to get back to .500 before its bye week and it still leads the NFC South at 5-5. But the Falcons are sticking around and making it clear that they’re ready to take the division title race down to the wire. The Bucs have a significant edge in the divisional record tiebreaker, but the best thing they can do is keep stacking wins as they face a lighter schedule down the stretch.

Todd Bowles’ team finally played a complete game last time out, beating a good Seahawks team 21-16 in Germany. Tom Brady and the offense still haven’t hit the heights they reached in the last two seasons, but the unit looked to figure some things out against Seattle. Defensively, the Bucs have remained solid despite some health issues and their inability to create turnovers. Sunday’s game will be a big test for the team’s run defense, as Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt make up a strong rushing attack for the Browns.

But as the Bucs look to get back above .500 for the first time since Week 5, there will be some milestones and records to watch out for. Back in Week 10, Brady passed Doug Williams for fifth-most passing yards in team history while passing Jameis Winston for third-most wins by a Bucs quarterback. Mike Evans passed Chad Johnson for the 10th-most receiving yards for a player through the first nine seasons of their career, and Lavonte David passed Mike Alstott for seventh-most games played in franchise history.

So, what’s on the line when Tampa Bay takes the field at FirstEnergy Stadium on Sunday? Let’s get into it.

Tom Brady

Brady needs 216 passing yards to pass Trent Dilfer (12,969) for fourth-most in Bucs history. And after passing Jameis Winston for third-most wins by a Tampa Bay quarterback last time out, he now sets his sights on second place. He needs four more wins to tie Doug Williams (33).

With one more fourth-quarter comeback, Brady will pass Peyton Manning (43) for the most in NFL history.

Mike Evans

Evans needs 28 more yards to become the first player to record 10,000 receiving yards with the Bucs. He is also 21 points away from passing Michael Husted (502) for second-most in franchise history.

With his 131st career start, Evans will pass Warren Sapp (130) for eighth-most in team history. He’ll also sit just one behind John Lynch (132) for seventh-most.

Evans is looking to break the 1,000-yard mark for the ninth straight season. To do so, he needs to average 47 yards per game the over the team’s final seven games.

Chris Godwin

With his first touchdown of the season last time out, Godwin tied Kevin House (31) for the sixth-most total touchdowns in franchise history. With one more, he passes House for sole possession of sixth and moves to one behind Cameron Brate (33) for fifth-most.

Godwin’s next receiving touchdown will also move him ahead of House (31) for fourth-most in Bucs history.

Cameron Brate

Brate is one touchdown of any kind away from tying Jimmie Giles (34) for fourth-most in team history. His next receiving score will also tie him with Giles (34) for second-most receiving touchdowns in Bucs history.

Will Gholston

With his 147th game as a Buc on Sunday, Gholston will sit just one behind Shelton Quarles (148) for ninth-most in Tampa Bay history.

Vita Vea

With 6.5 sacks in the first 10 games, Vea is the Bucs’ leading sacker this season. He needs just 3.5 more to become the first Tampa Bay defensive tackle to record double-digit sacks in a season since Warren Sapp tallied 16.5 in 2000.

Lavonte David

David is one defensive touchdown away from tying David Logan and Mike Washington (four) for third-most in franchise history. He’s also 1.5 sacks away from tying Logan (28.5) for 10th on the Bucs’ all-time leaderboard. And with six more passes defended, David will tie Donnie Abraham (64) for fourth-most in team history.

Carlton Davis

Davis is two passes defended away from tying Lavonte David (58) for fifth-most all-time.

Jamel Dean

Dean needs two passes defended to tie Brent Grimes (41) for ninth-most in franchise history.
