Latest Bucs Headlines

The Bucs’ hot 2-0 start to the season feels like a long time ago at this point, doesn’t it? Tampa Bay beat Dallas and New Orleans on the road to kick off the 2022 season before coming back home and dropping back-to-back games to Green Bay and Kansas City. Heading into Week 5, the team is still searching for its best.

Through four weeks of the season, the Bucs have yet to play a complete game. The defense ran the show for three games while waiting for the offense to catch up. In Week 4, the offense finally found a little something, but the defense had no answer for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. That led to a 41-31 loss for the Bucs, who have already lost more games at Raymond James Stadium in 2022 than they did over the course of the 2021 regular season.

Now, at 2-2, Todd Bowles’ team now hosts the 2-2 Falcons on Sunday afternoon with the NFC South lead on the line. But the division lead isn’t the only thing to play for, as there are plenty of individuals looking to move up in the NFL and franchise record books. Last week, Tom Brady surpassed Brad Johnson for sixth on the franchise’s all-time passing yards list. Mike Evans became the Bucs’ all-time leader in scrimmage yards, plus he moved ahead of Connor Barth for the third-most points scored in team history.

So, where do things stand heading into Week 5? Let’s get to it.

Tom Brady

Brady needs 49 more completions to pass Brad Johnson (1,040) for fifth-most in team history. And if the Bucs win, Brady would have 27 regular season wins in his time with the team, which would move him ahead of Johnson (26) for fourth-most in franchise history.

With one more fourth-quarter comeback, Brady will tie Peyton Manning (43) for the NFL record.

Leonard Fournette

With his next rushing touchdown, Fournette will tie Peyton Barber, Earnest Graham and Lars Tate (15) for 10th-most in team history. Two more rushing scores will tie him with Ricky Bell (16) for ninth-most, while a four-touchdown day would tie him with Ronald Jones II (18) for eighth.

Mike Evans

Evans reached two milestones last week against the Chiefs, and now he’s on his way to more. He needs 21 more points to pass Michael Husted (502) for second-most in franchise history.

Sunday will also mark Evans’ 125th career start, leaving him behind Warren Sapp (130) for eighth-most in Bucs history.

Finally, as Evans’ quest for a ninth straight 1,000-yard receiving season to start his career rolls on, he needs to average 58.8 yards per game over the final 13 contests to reach that threshold once again.

Chris Godwin

Godwin has yet to find the end zone this season, but if he can do so on Sunday, he’ll make some history. One more touchdown of any kind will tie him with Kevin House (31) for sixth-most in team history. Meanwhile, two more receiving scores will tie him with House (31) for fourth-most all-time.

Godwin is getting closer and closer to passing House (4,928) for third on the team’s all-time receiving yards list, too. He needs 192 more to claim third.

Lavonte David

Sunday will be David’s 154th game as a Buc, leaving him four behind Mike Alstott (158) for seventh-most in franchise history. It will also be his 154th start, which means he needs 29 more to pass Paul Gruber (183) for third-most.

David is still searching for the defensive touchdown that would tie him with David Logan and Mike Washington (four) for third-most in team history.

Will Gholston

With his 141st career game on Sunday, Gholston will pass Pro Football Hall of Famer and Bucs Ring of Honor member Warren Sapp (140) for ninth-most in franchise history.

Shaquil Barrett

Barrett needs one more forced fumble to tie Hardy Nickerson (13) for sixth-most in team history.
