The Bucs are in dire straits right now, standing at an extremely disappointing 3-3 through six games of the 2022 season. Now, there was a time when 3-3 at this point in the season would be cause for celebration. But those days are gone. When Tom Brady is your quarterback and you’re coming off of a Super Bowl two years ago and a franchise-record 13 regular season wins last year, much more is expected.
Tampa Bay’s 20-18 loss in Pittsburgh last Sunday was a disgrace. The Bucs were playing an undermanned Steelers team that doesn’t match them in talent even at their healthiest. Yet, Todd Bowles’ team couldn’t get it done in the red zone, couldn’t get off the field on several third-and-longs and couldn’t manage to win a very winnable game. Now, entering Week 7, there can’t be any more letdowns. It’s past time for the Bucs to figure things out — in all three phases of the game.
So, with an NFC South matchup in Charlotte, North Carolina, against the Panthers, the Bucs have to get back on track. Carolina is in disarray, having fired their coach earlier this month. The team traded away receiver Robbie Anderson earlier this week before sending superstar running back Christian McCaffrey to San Francisco for future picks on Thursday night. If the Bucs can’t rebound against this Panthers team, they’ll be beyond help.
A 3-0 NFC South record, an above-.500 record and essentially their hopes for the season are on the line when the Bucs hit the field at Bank of America Stadium on Sunday. But there are also some records and places in history at stake. Last week, Brady passed Brad Johnson for the fifth-most completions in team history. Leonard Fournette also passed Cadillac Williams for fifth-most receptions by a running back in franchise history and moved ahead of Earnest Graham for 10th-most receiving yards by a Bucs running back.
Now, what’s in play for Week 7? Let’s get to it.

Tom Brady
Brady needs one more win to tie Jameis Winston (28) for third-most by a quarterback in team history. Meanwhile, on the NFL side of things, Brady is still one fourth-quarter comeback away from tying Peyton Manning (43) for most in league history.
Leonard Fournette
With his next rushing touchdown, Fournette will tie Ricky Bell (16) for ninth-most rushing touchdowns in franchise history. He needs three more rushing scores to tie Ronald Jones II (18) for eighth-most all-time.
In the passing game, Fournette has a few moves to make. He needs one more receiving touchdown to tie Adger Armstrong, Michael Pittman and Charles Sims (six) for fourth-most by a running back in team history. His next receiving touchdown will also tie him with Sims (four) for the most by a Bucs running back in a single season. And finally, he is just 38 receiving yards away from passing Jerry Eckwood (956) for eighth-most by a running back in franchise history.
Mike Evans
Evans needs 21 more points to pass Michael Husted (502) for second-most in team history.
Sunday will mark Evans’ 127th career start, which will leave him three away from tying Warren Sapp (130) for eighth-most in Bucs history.
If Evans wants to extend his 1,000-yard receiving streak to nine straight seasons, he needs to average 58.4 yards per game over the next 11 games.

Chris Godwin
With one touchdown of any kind, Godwin will tie Kevin House (31) for sixth-most total touchdowns in franchise history.
Godwin needs two more receiving touchdowns to tie House (31) for fourth-most in team history.
With 36 more receiving yards, Godwin will pass House (4,928) for third-most all-time. He needs just 126 to pass Mark Carrier (5,018) for second-most, too.
Lavonte David
Sunday will be David’s 156th game as a Buc, leaving him two behind Mike Alstott (158) for seventh-most in franchise history. His 156th career start will have him 27 away from tying Paul Gruber (183) for third-most all-time.
If David manages to score a defensive touchdown against the Panthers, he’ll tie Mike Washington and David Logan (four) for third-most in team history.

Will Gholston
With his 143rd career game on Sunday, Gholston will be five away from tying Shelton Quarles (148) for ninth-most in team history.
Shaq Barrett
With one more forced fumble, Barrett will tie Hardy Nickerson (13) for sixth-most in Bucs history.
