After needing a late pick-six by Shaq Barrett to hold off the Bears in their home opener last week, the Bucs will face a stiffer test at home in Week 3. The 2-0 Eagles visit for a Monday Night Football contest that will be a true measuring stick for where Tampa Bay really is.
In Week 2, the Bucs should’ve beaten the Bears more comfortably. Settling for two field goals inside the Chicago 10-yard line and a blocked 40-yarder kept things close. Even when Tampa Bay looked to pull away at 20-10, one Bears touchdown drive made things uncomfortably close late. But a couple of late takeaways got Todd Bowles’ team to 2-0 ahead of a big Week 3 clash.
A 3-0 start for the Bucs would be their first since 2005, and it would send a big message to the rest of the league and the football world that largely doesn’t believe in them.
But as much as it would mean on a team level, there are milestones and records that some individuals on the roster are chasing.
Last week, Mike Evans tied Mike Alstott for the sixth-most starts in team history (137), while Chris Godwin set a new franchise-long streak for games with five-plus receptions (16). Plus, Christian Izien also became just the fourth undrafted player in NFL history with an interception in his first two games.
Now, let’s take a look at where things stand heading into Monday night.

Mike Evans
Evans is just five receptions away from becoming the 59th player in NFL history — and the first Buc — to reach 700 career receptions.
With one receiving touchdown on Monday night, Evans will tie Mark Clayton, Tommy McDonald, Irving Fryar and Andre Rison (84) for 21st-most in league history. Two more will tie him with Lance Alworth, Jimmy Graham, Hines Ward and Paul Warfield (85) for 17th-most, while he could claim sole possession of 17th with three receiving scores.
Monday will mark Evans’ 140th game with the Bucs, tying Warren Sapp (140) for 11th-most in franchise history. And with his touchdown last week, he is now 81 points away from passing Martin Gramatica (592) for the franchise record.
Chris Godwin
With one more receiving touchdown, Godwin will tie Cameron Brate (33) for third-most in team history. Two more will tie Godwin with Jimmie Giles (34) for second-most receiving touchdowns in Bucs history.
With his 32 receiving touchdowns and one rushing score, Godwin’s 33 total touchdowns give him the fifth-most in franchise history. Another touchdown of any kind will tie him with Jimmie Giles (34 total touchdowns) for fourth.
Another five-catch performance for Godwin would tie Davante Adams, Pierre Garcon, Herman Moore and Jerry Rice (17) for ninth-longest streak of games with five-plus receptions in NFL history. The Bucs’ second all-time leading receiver also has a streak of games with five-plus catches and 50-plus yards, which sits at 10. With another such game on Monday, he’ll tie four players (11) for the 13th-longest streak in league history.

Will Gholston
Monday will be Gholston’s 156th career game with Tampa Bay, leaving him two away from tying Mike Alstott (158) for eighth-most in Bucs history.
Shaq Barrett
Barrett picked up a sack last week against the Bears, which now means he is 14 away from passing Gerald McCoy (54.5) for fourth-most in team history.
Barrett also remains one forced fumble away from tying Hardy Nickerson (13) for sixth-most in franchise history. Of course, two more would move him ahead of Nickerson for sixth and put him one behind Warren Sapp and Ronde Barber (15), who share fourth on the team’s all-time forced fumbles leaderboard.
Lavonte David

David is set to play in his 169th game with the Bucs, which will have him 14 away from tying Paul Gruber (183) for fourth-most games played in franchise history. It will also be his 169th start, which is 14 behind Gruber (183) for third-most.
The Bucs’ legendary linebacker is 4.5 sacks away from passing Jason Pierre-Paul and Brad Culpepper (33) for eighth on the team’s all-time leading sackers list.
David is also five passes defensed away from tying Donnie Abraham (64) for fifth-most in Bucs history.
Carlton Davis
With his 65th career pass defensed, Davis recently moved ahead of Donnie Abraham (64) for fourth-most in team history. Now, he is 20 passes defensed away from passing Derrick Brooks (84) for third.
Jamel Dean
Dean is still one pass defensed away from tying John Lynch (42) for eighth-most in franchise history.
Christian Izien
Izien intercepted Justin Fields late in last week’s game, making him just the fourth undrafted free agent in NFL history with interceptions in his first two games. If he can pick off a pass on Monday night, he’ll be the first with an interception in his first three career games. He’d be just the fourth player overall to intercept a pass in three straight games, joining John Anderson (1978), Terry Jackson (1978), Paul Krause (1970) and Carl Lockhart (1970).

Bucs
With a win over the Eagles on Monday night, the Bucs will get to 3-0 for the fifth time in franchise history. It would be the first time since 2005, a season that saw them start 3-0 and finish 11-5, winning the NFC South before crashing out of the playoffs in the first round.
A 3-0 start would make Todd Bowles the first Tampa Bay coach since Jon Gruden to win their first three games in a season.
