After missing out on a golden chance to get to 4-1 and take a two-game lead in the NFC South, the Bucs will look to rebound from last Thursday’s loss on Sunday afternoon when they take on the Saints in New Orleans.

Tampa Bay started NFC South play last week with a brutal loss in Atlanta, so now the team can’t afford to fall to 0-2 in divisional play when they take on New Orleans. The Bucs narrowly won the division in 2022 and 2023, and in both years, they finished with a 4-2 record against NFC South opponents. So, with that in mind, a loss to the Saints would be very detrimental to the team’s chances of four-peating as division champions.

The Bucs got a longer break between Weeks 5 and 6 due to the fact that they played on Thursday Night Football. However, it’s been far from a typical game week for Tampa Bay considering the team traveled early to avoid the effects of Hurricane Milton. Ownership made arrangements for a large travel party in New Orleans, and for those staying in Florida, the organization set them up in Orlando.

The Saints are facing their own challenges, coming off a short week after playing on Monday Night Football in addition to dealing with a long list of injuries, including one that will keep starting quarterback Derek Carr out of Sunday’s game.

As usual, there are other storylines to follow in this Week 6 matchup outside of the NFC South implications, and that’s the reason we’re here right now. As we do every week here on PewterReport.com, it’s now time to take a look at what else is on the line during this week’s game. Of course, we’re talking about some of the records and milestones that some Bucs are moving toward.

Last week, Mike Evans became the 26th player in NFL history to reach 100 total touchdowns and tied Pro Football Hall of Famer Don Hutson for 11th-most receiving touchdowns in league history (99).

Here’s where everything stands heading into Week 6:

Baker Mayfield

Mayfield is 887 passing yards away from passing Craig Erickson (6,094) for 9th-most in franchise history.

Mayfield is also working his way toward eighth on the Bucs’ all-time passing touchdowns leaderboard, but he’s still a long way away. He needs 23 more to pass Steve DeBerg (61).

Mike Evans

Evans is set to play his 160th game as a Buc on Sunday, tying Tony Mayberry for eighth-most in team history.

With 44 more receiving yards, Evans will become the 18th player in NFL history to reach 12,000 receiving yards with one franchise. And with 106 yards, he’ll pass Derrick Mason (12,061) for 29th-most in league history. Meanwhile, 128 receiving yards will move Evans ahead of Hines Ward (12,083) for 28th-most all-time.

Evans needs one more receiving touchdown to tie Pro Football Hall of Famers Tim Brown and Steve Largent (100) for ninth-most in league history. He’d also become the fifth-fastest player to reach 100 career receiving touchdowns, trailing only Jerry Rice, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens and Marvin Harrison. Evans would also become just the seventh player to reach 100 receiving touchdowns with one franchise.

With a touchdown of any kind, Evans will tie Steve Largent (101) for 22nd-most in league history.

Evans needs 44 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown to reach 12,000 receiving yards and 100 receiving touchdowns in his career. He would become the 10th player to do so in NFL history, joining Tim Brown, Chris Carter, Larry Fitzgerald, Tony Gonzalez, Marvin Harrison, Steve Largent, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens and Jerry Rice. All eight eligible players in that group are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and Fitzgerald will be once eligible as well.

Rachaad White

White needs 34 more receiving yards to reach 1,000 for his career, becoming the ninth running back to reach that mark with Tampa Bay.

With four more receptions, White will pass Cadillac Williams (134) for sixth-most by a running back in Bucs history.

White needs 56 more receiving yards to pass Garry Anderson (1,021) for eighth-most by a running back in franchise history. With 126 more, he’ll pass Doug Martin (1,091) for seventh-most.

Cade Otton

Otton needs only six more receiving yards to reach 1,000 for his career. He’s set to become the 12th tight end in Bucs history to reach that mark with Tampa Bay.

Otton is nine receptions away from passing Calvin Magee (114) for ninth-most by a tight end in Bucs history, while 14 more receptions will move him ahead of O.J. Howard (119) for eighth-most.

Will Gholston

Sunday will be Gholston’s 175th game with the Bucs, leaving him nine away from passing Paul Gruber (183) for fifth-most in franchise history.

Lavonte David

David needs four more sacks to pass David Logan (39.0) for sixth-most in team history.

With seven more passes defensed, David will pass Carlton Davis III (73) for fourth-most in franchise history.

Sunday will be David’s 187th game as a Buc, leaving him four away from passing Dave Moore (190) for third-most in team history.

Jamel Dean

Dean is six passes defensed away from passing Aqib Talib (54) for seventh-most in Buccaneer history.

Chase McLaughlin

McLaughlin is quickly making a case to be considered among the best kickers in franchise history, even if he’s only been with the team for one full season and five games in 2024. After hitting two field goals from 50+ yards out in last week’s loss to the Falcons, McLaughlin tied Martin Gramatica for the second-most field goals from 50+ yards in team history.

Now, with one more field goal from 50+, McLaughlin will tie Connor Barth (15) for the most such field goals in Bucs history.
