The roster cuts continue for the Bucs as they have waived guard Zack Bailey, tight end Codey McElroy, wide receiver Spencer Schnell and undrafted free agent quarterback Reid Sinnett, per Greg Auman of the Athletic.
Bailey has spent the most time on the 53-man roster after making the team last year as an undrafted free agent. He was a backup on the offensive line but was put on injured reserve after an ankle injury in October.
Codey McElroy comes from an interesting background as a three sport athlete in college, playing basketball at the University of Texas, basketball at Oklahoma State, and football at Southeastern Oklahoma. He played in one game for the Bucs last season, making a 30-yard reception against the Houston Texans in Week 16.
Schnell has been with the Bucs at various points over the last two seasons. He was cut at the end of training camp last season and then later signed to the practice squad in December and added to the 53-man roster for a game where he had two punt returns for three yards, also in Week 16 against Houston like McElroy. Schnell was then released on July 31st in this year’s training camp and re-signed on August 24th.
Sinnett was the fourth string quarterback on the Bucs roster behind Tom Brady, Blaine Gabbert and Ryan Griffin. He had one year as a starting quarterback behind at the University of San Diego and then signed with the Bucs as an undrafted free agent. The plan for Bruce Arians was to sign him as a developmental quarterback and let his skills grow on the practice if he clears waivers.
Along with Sinnett, Bailey is the player that is most likely in the group to be added on the expanded 16-man practice squad.
