Latest Bucs Headlines

With their season opener in Dallas just five days away, the Bucs have released an updated depth chart for Week 1.

Two of the biggest changes didn’t come as surprises, as Bucs head coach Todd Bowles made mention of them during his Monday press conference. Bowles said that 2022 second-round pick Luke Goedeke will get the start at left guard against the Cowboys, which is reflected in the new depth chart.

Goedeke emerged as the starter after a long camp battle with Nick Leverett and Aaron Stinnie. The rookie worked as the starting left guard in both of the Bucs’ final two preseason games.

The head coach also said Jamel Dean will start as the No. 2 cornerback opposite Carlton Davis III, and that change is also shown in the newly released depth chart.

“He’s made great improvements since he got here, and he studies. He comes back in shape,” Bowles said Monday. It was a tough battle because Sean [Murphy-Bunting] had a heck of a camp, he really did. Dean had just a notch better and they both will play a lot.”

White Moves Up Bucs Depth Chart

One other notable change involves another rookie. Third-round pick Rachaad White is listed behind Leonard Fournette as the No. 2 running back.

White previously found himself behind Giovani Bernard and Ke’Shawn Vaughn. But after an impressive preseason, the former Arizona State standout assumes backup duties behind Fournette, the Bucs’ highly-paid running back.

White is also Tampa Bay’s top kick returner, while Jaelon Darden remains the team’s punt returner.

Outside of those three changes, everything else remains straightforward for the Bucs as they head into the 2022 season.
