The 2023 season is in the rear view mirror for the Bucs, but it can also be fun to reminisce about the best moments from it. On Thursday, the Bucs released a video highlighting their Top 10 plays from the year. Through the ups and downs of a 9-8 season that saw Tampa Bay make it through the divisional round of the playoffs, there were some big moments that fans can enjoy. This is what they decided on:

Arguably the Bucs’ best game of the season came in their 32-9 win at home over the Eagles in the Wild Card round, so it makes sense that the touchdown pass from Baker Mayfield to Chris Godwin was the No. 1 play of Tampa Bay’s year.
It also comes as no surprise that wide receiver Mike Evans and safety Antoine Winfield Jr. had several plays that were on the Top 10 list. Evans led the team in receiving yards and was tied for the NFL’s best with 13 receiving touchdowns.
There’s a case to be made that Winfield was the best player overall for the Bucs and he was rewarded with making first team All-Pro.

If I were going to nitpick just a little bit about this list, there’s one play I would take out. Instead of the No. 6 play, which was a 70-yard catch-and-run by Mike Evans against the Chicago Bears in Week 2, I have four other moments I would consider to put in there instead in no particular.
One would go back to that postseason win over the Eagles when David Moore had a 44-yard catch-and-run for a touchdown in the first quarter to put the Bucs up 10-0. On a third-and-7, Moore made a catch down the left side and was able to cut to the middle of the field and finish it for a touchdown.
Giving a shout out to the defensive side, Bucs fans were absolutely elated when long time veteran defensive tackle Will Gholston recorded his first career interception on Thursday night football against Bills. Of course it was a blitzing Antoine Winfield Jr. that tipped the pass of Josh Allen that popped it up into the air, which led Gholston being the recipient.
A defensive lineman interception is a rare occasion, so it was an exciting play.
The next suggestion goes back to that Week 2 game against the Bears and stays with Evans. Leading 13-10 in the third quarter, Baker Mayfield connected with Evans on a third-and-14 to hit him in the end zone for a touchdown. The combination of a long down and distance, score of the game, Mayfield throwing off of his back foot to get rid of it before the pressure got there and Evans being able to get behind the defense made it highlight caliber moment.

In the last suggestion, we take a look at the best regular season game the Bucs had on the road against the Packers. Rachaad White made a number of plays this year, so he’s deserving to get on the list one way or another.
With Tampa Bay up 13-10 early in the third quarter, Mayfield hit White on a vertical route after still lining up in the the backfield for a 26-yard touchdown to put the Bucs up 20-10. White had one man to beat after making the catch, which he easily moved by to reach the end zone.
That type of play should be on further encapsulate how great Mayfield performed, having a perfect passer rating.
These aren’t meant to criticize any of the Bucs’ selections. Just promoting other plays from the year.
Bucs Get National Attention
Mike Evans and the Bucs received some national love as well. Evans’ difficult one-handed catch in the Week 3 game against the Eagles was the No. 6 play in the NFL’s Top 10 catches of the season. The same catch was No. 4 on their own list.
Hopefully Evans can continue to make more memories for the Bucs and their fans if he returns to Tampa next season. The team has a lot of decisions to make on Evans, Baker Mayfield, Antoine Winfield Jr. and many other free agents to remain competitive.
