Latest Bucs Headlines

While the entire uniform schedule isn’t out just yet, we at least have learned what uniform the Bucs will be wearing when they begin the season. Tampa Bay announced via its social media that it will be a whiteout for the start of the season when the Bucs host the Washington Commanders at Raymond James Stadium for a 4:25 game.

The Bucs have typically gone with their white jerseys at the beginning of the season when the weather is even warmer in Tampa and the team is playing during high degree temperatures. Last season they went all white in the home opener in Week 2 against the Bears as the Bucs, won 27-17. This season they’ll do it again against Washington, hoping for a similar victorious result.

Some fans haven’t been happy about how often Tampa Bay uses the all-white uniforms compared the traditional red and pewter, which are technically the team’s home colors. The argument has always been that white isn’t a color that is specific to the Bucs as every team has that color in their combination. Red and pewter are the actual team colors. The Bucs typically wind up wearing red more as the season goes on. They were wearing red jerseys when they defeated the Eagles, 32-9, in the first round of the postseason.

Are The Bucs Getting A Creamsicle And/Or Pewter Game?

Tampa Bay will have an option this season in terms of whether white pants will go with their white or red jerseys. They also have pewter pants that match with either jersey as well.

Then of course, there’s the creamsicle uniforms that made their return last season along with the all-pewter look (pewter jersey and pants) that has been in use for the Bucs since 2020.

No word has come out yet on when Tampa Bay will put on the creamsicle uniforms and wear the pewter jerseys again. However, Bucs players have posted pictures with their creamsicle jerseys on during photo shoots, at least confirming that they are returning this season.

The throwbacks came back last year after a decade-long hiatus, as the Bucs lost to the Lions, 20-6, in Week 6. But fans loved the look and it appears as if the creamsicles are here to stay. The Bucs also lost in the pewter jerseys last season against the Colts.

It would be very interesting to see Tampa Bay put on the creamsicles against the Raiders for their home game in Week 13 on December 8. This would give that matchup a pirate theme as well as give that game an old-school feel with the Raiders franchise being around for such a long time. The pewter jerseys can come out whenever, since there’s not really a historical connection. Tampa Bay has worn the all-pewter look both home and away.

Bucs Announce Another Event

The team also did announce that they will have Salute To Service game, which is taking place against the 49ers in Week 10. That’s also their last game before the bye week. It’s been tough sledding for Tampa Bay against San Francisco since Todd Bowles took over as head coach.

The Bucs lost 35-7 in San Francisco back in 2022, which was famously highlighted as the NFL starting debut of Brock Purdy. Last season, with a different looking team and quarterback, they fared just a little bit better, though still ultimately lost in San Fran again, 27-14.

Maybe a change of scenery with the game being played at home will give the Bucs some better fortune. It’s games like against the 49ers and Lions this season that will be measuring sticks for the Bucs.
