The Bucs injury report, which has read like a Dickinson novel for much of the year, showed progress on Thursday. The illness that has run through the Advent Health Training Center and forced a walkthrough practice on Wednesday looks to be dissipating as five of the six players that were listed as limited participants yesterday were full participants today.

Bucs Starter Makes Comeback

Starting left guard Ben Bredeson, who missed last week’s game against the Bills due to a hamstring injury, practiced for the first time since being knocked out of the Bucs’ Week 10 matchup against the Patriots. Bredeson was a limited participant in today’s practice.

Backup Michael Jordan has filled in admirably, but he’s a clear step down from Bredeson who has been one of Tampa Bay’s best and most consistent starters across multiple positions this year. The Bucs are starting to unlock their run game over the last two weeks and Bredeson could be a big part of pushing those improvements higher.

Reserve outside linebacker Chris Braswell Jr. also practiced in a limited capacity for the first time this week. He’s been dealing with an ankle injury that kept him out of action on Wednesday.

Illness Adjustments

Center Graham Barton, quarterback Baker Mayfield, guard Dan Feeney, tackle Luke Goedeke, and defensive lineman Logan Hall all moved from limited participants on Wednesday to full participants on Thursday. Wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, who was also listed as a limited participant on Wednesday due to illness, remained limited on Thursday.

Fellow wide receivers Sterling Shepard (shoulder) and Chris Godwin Jr. (fibula) both moved from limited to full participants. If Godwin Jr. continues to trend this way he could make his first game appearance since Week 5 at Seattle.

Kicker Chase McLaughlin also returned to practice on Thursday after missing Wednesday due to an excused absence for a personal matter.

Two Players Still Not Practicing

Cornerback Jamel Dean, who left last week’s game after just a handful of snaps due to a hip injury, did not practice for the second consecutive game. Earlier this week head coach Todd Bowles noted he was day-to-day.

“He’s got a hip flexor strain,” Bowles said. “Right now, he’s day-to-day. He’s getting more tests run – we’ll see later on this week.”

It is now later in the week, and it looks like he isn’t progressing. This would point to him missing his second game of the year unless he rejoins practice tomorrow. Either rookie Benjamin Morrison or Jacob Parrish will start in his Dean’s place on Sunday when the team travels to Los Angeles to take on the 8-2 Rams.

Similarly, outside linebacker Haason Reddick did not practice again on Thursday and looks like he will miss his fourth game of the season.
