In addition to the Bucs’ eight draft selections and 19 undrafted free agent signings attending rookie mini-camp, there were several try out players in attendance as well. On Sunday, the team signed two of those players, bringing in veteran receiver David Moore and undrafted rookie outside linebacker Markees Watts, per Greg Auman of Fox Sports.

The 28-year-old Moore entered the league in 2017 as a seventh-round draft pick by the Seahawks. After spending a majority of his first year on the practice squad, he had a breakout year in 2018 with 26 receptions for 445 yards and five scores. Over his four years in Seattle, he hauled in 78 passes for 1,163 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Moore was also utilized out of the backfield with 12 rush attempts for 91 yards and as a punt returner with 25 run backs for 219 yards. Moore signed a one-year deal with the Bears last season, but a leg injury he suffered during training camp ended his season.

With several rookies and second-year players behind Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Russell Gage, Moore gives the Bucs a veteran to add to the competition. Another benefit of having him on the team is his familiarity with some aspects of the new system offensive coordinator Dave Canales is going to be running. As well as his experience working with Canales, Bucs new wide receivers coach Brad Idzik was Moore’s assistant position coach in 2019 and 2020. The 6-foot, 215-pound receiver ran a 4.43 40 time coming out of college.
Watts Joins Bucs After Productive Collegiate Career
Watts started in 36 games at Charlotte over five seasons at both a linebacker and defensive end. He is a bit undersized for the position at just 6-foot, 234 pounds. Although he didn’t test particularly well, he has better football speed than timed speed and was primarily used as a rusher in college. He finished his tenure with the 49ers posting 177 tackles, 31 tackles for loss, 21.5 sacks, one interception, one forced fumble and two recoveries, including one for a touchdown.
With the signing of Moore and Watts, the Bucs now stand at 90 players, the offseason limit for NFL teams.
