Latest Bucs Headlines

The Bucs have announced via social media on Thursday evening that the Bucs have signed four of their draft picks from the 2025 NFL Draft. They are third-round pick cornerback Jacob Parrish, fourth-round pick outside linebacker David Walker, fifth-round pick defensive lineman Elijah Roberts and seventh-round wide receiver Tez Johnson.

These are four year rookie contracts. Tampa Bay only has two players from the draft class that is still unsigned with first round pick wide receiver Emeka Egbuka and second round pick cornerback Benjamin Morrison. Because Egbuka is a first round pick, he gets a fifth-year team option on his contract.

Tampa Bay begins their rookie mini-camp on Friday and will continue on Saturday. While the Bucs just began phase two of the offseason workout program, the first organized team activity with the whole roster begins in three weeks.

Here is more information on the newest draft picks that just signed with Tampa Bay.

Bucs CB Jacob Parrish

The 5-foot-10, 191-pound K-State product has plenty of experience at nickel, often moving inside on the Wildcats’ third-down packages. The Olathe, Kansas native played 470 snaps at outside cornerback last year, but did see 91 snaps in the slot and 44 more in the box, according to Pro Football Focus. He had 202 career snaps at nickel cornerback in his three years in Manhattan.

He is still only three years into playing the cornerback position after playing running back and safety in high school, and that inexperience may show up at times on tape. But despite that, his 4.35 speed (which was the fourth-fastest 40-yard dash time among cornerbacks at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine), twitchiness and ability to change directions all stand out as positives.

Not only that, but Parrish has the ballhawking tendencies Bucs head coach Todd Bowles is looking to add to his defense. Over three seasons at Kansas State, Parrish totaled five interceptions and 23 passes defensed. He had a career-high four interceptions during his sophomore season in 2023, which was also when he posted a career-high 13 passes defensed. He then finished his college career with eight passes defensed and an interception in 2024.

Bucs OLB David Walker

A 6-foot-1, 263-pounder, dominated FCS competition with 82.5 tackles for loss, 39 sacks and six forced fumbles over the past four years, with one at Southern Arkansas and three at Central Arkansas. He was a team captain in 2024 and left college as a three-time consensus All-American, the 2024 Buck Buchanan Award winner and a three-time conference defensive player of the year.

After his career wrapped up with the Bears, Walker went to the Senior Bowl in Mobile and proved that he belonged with the top college talent. He isn’t the fastest edge rusher (4.69), but he’s very sudden in his movements and has great pass rushing instincts. A crazy 33.8% of his tackles at Central Arkansas came in the backfield. He plays the run well, and has some violence to his game, which will serve him well at the next level.

The Bucs’ fourth-round pick is a bit of an older prospect, as he will be 25 years old as a rookie. He lacks the ideal length, but his tools and ability to turn speed to power should help him overcome any size concerns.

Bucs DL Elijah Roberts

Roberts is a unique prospect in that he was primarily an edge rusher in college, starting for two seasons at SMU after transferring in from Miami. At 6-foot-4, 285 pounds, he was a unique, big-bodied pass rusher off the edge. He was announced by the Bucs as a defensive lineman, though, which could mean he’ll be kicking inside to play tackle in Tampa Bay. He certainly has the frame and skill set to do so, even if he has minimal experience inside. Overall, 1,211 of his 1,530 snaps came outside the tackle.

As a pass rusher, Roberts into his strengths — both his long arms and power — in order to affect the quarterback. Roberts had 131 pressures over the last two seasons, which ranked No. 1 in the FBS. His range was inconsistent when working off contact against the run, but he certainly holds his own at the point of attack. And while power is the focal point of his game, he has good short-area quickness, which helps him against the run, too.

Roberts rejuvenated his college career when transferring to SMU. He was a Second Team All-AAC selection in 2023, a season that saw him post 10 sacks, 12.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and two passes defensed. Then, after SMU made the move to the ACC in 2024, he finished his career in Dallas with 7.5 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and a pass defensed.

Bucs WR Tez Johnson

Johnson is a complete outlier in size, coming in just under 5-foot-10 and weighing in at 154 pounds. His lack of size and strength would fairly be pointed out as limiting factors to his game,  and his 4.51-second 40-yard dash was surprisingly “slow” considering the play speed he put on display at Oregon. That 40 time and his overall frame could’ve contributed to his fall on draft weekend.

With that being said, this still feels like a relative steal for the Bucs in the seventh round. The Athletic’s Dane Brugler had a fourth-round grade on Johnson, and he was No. 138 on Pro Football Focus’ big board. Tampa Bay got him at No. 235, and new offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard will look to put his quickness, burst, ability to separate and incredible yards-after-catch ability to use in the Buccaneer offense.

During his time at Oregon, he posted 1,182 yards and 10 touchdowns on 86 catches in 2023 and 898 yards and 10 touchdowns on 83 catches in 2024. Over the last two seasons, Johnson led all college wide receivers with 1,352 yards after catch. Johnson can also help Tampa Bay on special teams, as he has punt return experience from his time at both Troy and Oregon. He returned 56 punts for 519 yards (9.3 avg.) and a touchdown (which went for 85 yards) over five seasons.
