The Bucs added a second defensive player in free agency, swiping a defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson from the NFC South rival Carolina Panthers.
Tampa Bay added veteran inside linebacker Alex Anzalone from Detroit on the first day of free agency. But a day after losing defensive tackle Logan Hall, the team’s second-round pick from 2022, to Houston in free agency, the Bucs replaced him with Robinson, a 10-year veteran.
The news was first reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on X.
Todd Bowles said he wanted "bigger players" this offseason. Mission accomplished with 6-foot-3, 320-pound DT A'Shawn Robinson. Big, powerful run stuffer for the Bucs that can push the pocket vs. the pass with 10 years of experience. https://t.co/SA01ofqtz7

A’Shawn Robinson Adds Size, Experience To Bucs Defensive Line
A’Shawn Robinson is a massive, 6-foot-3, 320-pound defensive tackle with 10 years worth of experience in the NFL. A second-round pick by the Lions in 2016, Robinson spent four years in Detroit before signing with the Rams for three seasons before joining the New York Giants in 2023. He’s spent the last two seasons in Carolina helping to turn the Panthers around into NFC South champions in 2025, stealing the division title from Tampa Bay.
Robinson replaces defensive tackle Logan Hall, the team’s starter in Todd Bowles’ 3-4 defense. He’ll also serve as a reserve nose tackle, backing up starter Vita Vea.

Bucs head coach Todd Bowles said he wanted bigger bodies this offseason, and that’s certainly the case with the muscle-bound Robinson, who played collegiately at Alabama. He’s known as a big-time run-stuffing defensive tackle who has posted 500 tackles and 37 tackles for loss during his 10 years in the league.
Robinson is coming off a 65-tackle season with the Panthers, including three tackles for loss. He posted a career-high 80 tackles in 2024 with eight tackles for loss. Robinson earned a 65.5 Pro Football Focus grade on defense last year, including a 63.8 pass rush grade and a 62.5 run defense grade.
While he’s not known as a pass rusher, Robinson can push the pocket and win with power up the middle. He’s posted 15 sacks in his career, including eight in Carolina the last two seasons. Robinson posted 5.5 sacks, which was a career high in 2024, and then had 2.5 last season. He’s also broken up 23 passes, forced six fumbles with four fumble recoveries in his career.
Robinson, who turns 31 on March 21, played in all 17 games last year and has only missed one game due to injury over the past three seasons.
