The Bucs have added quarterback Josh Rosen to the practice squad, per Mike Garofolo and Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network. The former first round pick in 2018 of the Arizona Cardinals was released by the Miami Dolphins on Friday and signed with the Bucs on Monday after clearing waivers.
The #Buccaneers are signing QB Josh Rosen to their practice squad, sources tell me and @TomPelissero. Rosen talked to teams that had openings on their active roster but with guaranteed $$ in his pocket already, went with the best fit in Tampa.

This will be Rosen’s third team in three seasons, and he now has a chance to rejuvenate his career with the quarterback whisperer, Bruce Arians. Rosen does have familiarity with some of the Bucs’ coaching staff as offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich was one of his coaches in Arizona.
Garafolo also said that Rosen was given offers by other teams to be on the 53-man roster, but decided on the practice squad option in Tampa Bay. It’s an enticing decision for Rosen to choose the Bucs considering Tom Brady is here for just two seasons, and then the future at quarterback is up in the air. The opportunity to practice every day in front of Arians and Leftwich knowing that there could be an opening down the road helps his chances.
The signing of Rosen puts five quarterbacks on the Bucs, with Brady, Blaine Gabbert and Ryan Griffin on the 53-man roster and Reid Sinnett and Rosen joining the expanded 16-man practice squad.
Rosen has played in 20 games with 16 starts and a 3-13 record. He’s thrown for 2,845 yards, 12 touchdowns, 19 interceptions and compiled a 54.8 quarterback rating overall.
