As reported previously, Tampa Bay brought Love and Xavier Williams in for workouts over the past week prior to the signing.
Love will provide depth at the nose tackle position behind starter Vita Vea, a role that Beau Allen had filled over the last two seasons in Tampa Bay. Allen signed as a free agent with New England this past spring.
At 6-1, 310 pounds, Love originally signed as an undrafted free agent with the Patriots in 2010 when the Bucs’ general manager Jason Licht was New England’s director of player personnel. The interior lineman then spent two seasons in New England and later settled in with the Panthers after bouncing around with stints in Jacksonville and Kansas City. Love played in Carolina for six seasons, totaling 15 career sacks and 147 tackles.
