This afternoon the injury reports for both the Bucs and Bills were released. This week, who is listed on them is all the more telling as both teams have a short week and will be playing on Thursday night.
On the Bucs side of the ball, there are definitely some notable entries, starting at the quarterback position. Baker Mayfield has been listed with a knee injury this week and did not practice on Monday. He was limited on Tuesday and commented on how he is feeling after Sunday’s game against the Falcons. “I mean, yesterday I was pretty sore,” Mayfield said. “Less than 24 hours after the game, that’s kind of how it always goes. I just kind of re-aggravated what I did against the Saints. Nothing too bad, just pain tolerance and move on.”

Bucs fans should not be concerned about his status, but they should be about two other starters in the trenches. Both left guard Matt Feiler and defensive tackle Vita Vea did not participate in practice, and it looks like the continuity Tampa Bay has had along the offensive line will be disrupted for one week.
Left tackle Tristan Wirfs revealed today that the team will have “some shuffling” with Feiler’s injury, suggesting that either Aaron Stinnie or Nick Leverett will be starting at left guard against Buffalo.
For Vea, he is now battling a groin injury and it is the second consecutive week of his playing status being up in the air. He had a foot injury last week but ultimately did suit up to play. Vea not participating at all this week does signal some doubt that he may not be able to make as quick of a turnaround this week.
On a positive note, wide receiver Chris Godwin was a limited participant after not practicing Monday. Running back Chase Edmonds was a full participant and Pewter Report did see him out there on special teams without issue. Edmonds is on track to be Rachaad White’s top backup and could help provide a much-needed spark to the running game.
Switching sides and looking at the Bills, they have a lengthy injury report. Looking it over, the most notable for them is that two of their three tight ends did not participate and three defensive linemen were limited. Bills head coach Sean McDermott did say that “it’s going to be close” regarding defensive tackle Ed Oliver, who already has four sacks this season up the middle. Defensive end Von Miller only played six snaps against the Patriots Sunday, and he is still slowly coming back from the torn ACL he suffered last season.
A few other starters were listed, including Josh Allen, but Allen, along with Spencer Brown and Terrel Bernard, were full participants and each is expected to play.
