Last Sunday was a disappointing game for the Bucs, to say the least. They came back to Raymond James Stadium on Sunday afternoon aiming to set things right facing an Eagles team they have gotten to know pretty well over the last calendar year.

This time around, they dominated both sides of the ball and won 33-16 to improve to 3-1 on the year. Although pretty much everything went Tampa Bay’s way, here is what was most disappointing in this one, with the team hoping to correct these things during a short week before heading to Atlanta to face the Falcons on Thursday Night Football.

WR Kameron Johnson

Kameron Johnson had a prime opportunity to haul in his first NFL catch and touchdown in the middle of the second quarter. Johnson was wide open in the end zone with no defender within a couple of yards of him, and Baker Mayfield threw it his way. After initially missing it, Johnson then looked like he had the football and as he was falling to the ground, he dropped it as it fell incomplete – with no one around him.

It would have made it a 28-0 game, and it would have been a highlight play for him. Instead, it was a big drop he will be kicking himself about for a while.

Replacing Jake Camarda on the active roster, Trenton Gill averaged a paltry 37.5 yards per punt this afternoon. Gill disappointed with his leg and allowed reserve cornerback Kelee Ringo to run back a blocked extra point when all he had to do was push him out of bounds.

Camarda is not in danger of losing his job just yet – at least not to Gill. The team might consider adding another punter in his stead or going back to their former fourth-round pick and seeing if he can get it together and round back into form.

ILB K.J. Britt

K.J. Britt’s athletic limitations were on display toward the end of the first half as the Eagles drove down the field. On fourth-and-goal from a yard out, the Bucs could have gotten a big stop to end any chance of Philadelphia getting going. Hurts moved out of the pocket to the right and Britt had him in his sights.

Instead of running straight and pressuring him, he stood still and put his hands up as Hurts threw a touchdown to Parris Campbell to make it a 24-7 game. Britt did what he could, but his lack of athleticism led to a negative play.

The Drops

It was not just Kameron Johnson who had a case of the drops. Mike Evans and Cade Otton also had drops in the first quarter, and after a hot start by Baker Mayfield, they contributed to him not being as efficient through the air.

C Graham Barton’s Rookie Mistakes

Although the Bucs’ offensive line held up throughout the game, Graham Barton had a couple of miscues in the second quarter. Barton was called for a false start penalty and then had a bad snap Baker Mayfield recovered.

The first-round pick had an overall solid game, but there are still things the young center can improve upon. If the game was closer, these would have been under more of a microscope.

Allowing Big Plays To RB Saquon Barkley

Defensive back Christian Izien and Jamel Dean both allowed big plays to the Eagles’ star running back. In the third quarter, Saquon Barkley broke off a 59-yard run down the right sideline, and Izien had a chance to bring him down. Instead, he took a bad angle and failed to get to the sideline quick enough as Barkley outran him.

Jamel Dean also gave up a big play to Barkley, and it was a case of Dean missing the tackle and getting pushed over. His tackling is inconsistent and led to more yards being gained than there should have been.
