The final injury report for the Bucs and Panthers has dropped in lieu of their Week 16 matchup. Tampa Bay is dealing with a plethora of significant injury losses, while the Panthers are trending toward better health. Here are the final injury designations for Sunday’s contest.
Bucs Injury Report
WR Mike Evans – OUT
S Antoine Winfield Jr. – OUT
OLB Jason Pierre-Paul – DOUBTFUL
CB Jamel Dean – QUESTIONABLE
CB Richard Sherman – QUESTIONABLE
Evans (hamstring) and Winfield (foot) did not practice all week, so their exclusion was not a surprise. But Pierre-Paul has been on the injury report all season with a shoulder, yet consistently played anyway. Perhaps the Bucs are taking it easy on him, as Pierre-Paul didn’t practice Thursday and Friday. He’s been totally ineffective in games, clearly impacted by the injury. Joe Tyron-Shoyinka will start in his place. About time, too.
Dean is listed as questionable, but is expected to play. Arians said earlier this week that Dean was “fine” now. Sherman sat out last week with an Achilles injury.
The Bucs have also loaded up injured reserve this week, moving four players to the list. Wide receiver Chris Godwin, linebacker Lavonte David, running back Leonard Fournette and defensive tackle Pat O’Connor were all placed on IR this week. Running back Giovani Bernard was put on it the week before In addition, defensive tackle Rakeem Nunez-Roches and returner Jaelon Darden were moved to the COVID list. They joined Breshad Perriman there, although Perriman could still be activated for Week 16.
Panthers Injury Report
LT Cam Erving – QUESTIONABLE
DT Phil Hoskins – QUESTIONABLE
WR D.J. Moore – QUESTIONABLE
Erving has been limited in practice all week, and is currently listed as questionable for Sunday. He’s one of the worst starting left tackles in the NFL, so the Bucs probably want him to play. Moore is the Panthers top receiver in yards, catches and touchdowns. He did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday, and was limited on Friday. Hoskins has barely played this season.
The Panthers have also been hit by COVID this week. Center Pat Elflein and backup lineman Dennis Daley were moved to the list. Matt Paradis is already out for the year, so third-string center Sam Tecklenburg will likely start on Sunday. If Erving can’t play, rookie Brady Christensen would likely get the start for Carolina. Defensive tackle Derrick Brown and safety Sam Franklin are also on the COVID list.
