When the gameday inactives for Sunday’s regular season finale were announced, there weren’t any surprises for the Bucs. But that didn’t eliminate the sting of the fact that they would be without four starters for their must-win game against the Saints at Raymond James Stadium.

News hit Saturday morning that safety Jordan Whitehead was involved in a car accident on his way to the team facility, ending his season early. Tampa Bay had also already ruled out safety Antoine Winfield Jr. and cornerback Jamel Dean, and the team expected to be without tight end Cade Otton for a third straight game.
Whitehead is on injured reserve, while the other three are inactive for Sunday’s game against New Orleans.
Here is the full list of inactives for the Bucs ahead of Sunday’s 1:00 p.m. kickoff against the Saints:
Players Inactive for Today's Game vs. New Orleans (1/5):
#19 WR Kameron Johnson
#31 S Antoine Winfield Jr.
#33 OLB Jose Ramirez
#35 CB Jamel Dean
#64 OL Royce Newman
#88 TE Cade Otton
#95 DL C.J. BrewerElevated for Today's Game:
#28 CB Dallis Flowers
#45 LB Deion Jones— Buccaneers Communications (@BuccaneersComms) January 5, 2025
Absent from the inactives list is outside linebacker Shaq Barrett, meaning the recently re-signed veteran will make his season debut in Week 18. The Bucs signed Barrett, who came out of retirement last month, ahead of their Week 17 game against the Panthers. But while he was inactive for that game, he is ready to suit up for the regular season finale. With his reintroduction to the Tampa Bay defense, outside linebacker Jose Ramirez is inactive.

While the Bucs are without some starters on both sides of the ball for Sunday’s game, the Saints may have it even worse. Starting quarterback Derek Carr will not play, meaning another start for rookie Spencer Rattler.
New Orleans will also be without star running back Alvin Kamara for another game, as well as second-year running back Kendre Miller.
The injury bug bit the Saints’ linebacker room as well, with Pete Werner (concussion) and Willie Gay (shoulder) both missing for Sunday’s regular season finale.
