The Bucs have waived defensive tackle Khalil Davis on Saturday. The move was made in order to make room for cornerback Pierre Desir on the 53-man roster.
This move comes as somewhat of a surprise as Davis is in just his second year out of Nebraska. He improved quite well during the offseason by having a great training camp, which earned him a spot on the roster.
Considering that veteran defensive linemen Ndamukong Suh, Will Gholston and Steve McLendon are all on the last year of their contracts, one would think you’d still like to have a defensive tackle with a rookie contract around.
Davis has been on the main roster since the beginning of the season, but he was also listed as a game day inactive for every game this season. The Bucs have a highly publicized game coming up Sunday night on the road as they take on the Patriots in Tom Brady’s return to New England for the first time since heading to Tampa.
