The Bucs got out of their 33-27 overtime victory over the Buffalo Bills relatively unscathed. The lone injury was to veteran running back Giovani Bernard, who was ruled out with a hip injury.

Bernard was carted to the locker room right before halftime after getting injured picking up a blitz. Bernard has been a key contributor to the two-minute and third down offense. His veteran savvy as a receiver out of the backfield and prowess as a pass blocker has helped the Bucs sustain drives and find the end zone. Bernard has three receiving touchdowns for Tampa this season.
Bucs head coach Bruce Arians was vague when asked about updates to Bernard and Jamel Dean.
“Gio’s a hip,” Arians said. “Dean we don’t know. We just don’t know.”
Asked to elaborate on Dean’s illness, Arians said, “He just got foggy.”
Dean played the entire first half, but was ruled out at halftime with an illness. It’s the second week in a row the Bucs have lost a player to illness for the second half. Last week against the Falcons, running back Ronald Jones also left the game with an illness and did not return. It’s also the second week in a row that Dean has not been able to finish a game. He was ruled out of the Falcons game with a concussion, but was able to pass through the NFL’s concussion protocol and suit up for the Bills game.
