We haven’t seen Scotty Miller play for the Bucs since Week 3, when he suffered a turf toe injury against the Rams. Though it was classified as turf toe, Miller knows the damage to his foot was more significant.

“I think that was the main prognosis,” Miller said. “But I tore a couple things in there. A little bone chipped off, so a couple different things in my foot. I didn’t think it would be as serious as it was, but it turned out to be pretty bad. Just grateful to be back this year and help the team.”

Miller explained how the injury occurred and what it was doing to prevent him from performing to the best of his abilities.

“Pretty painful. I did it in the Rams game,” Miller said. “It was the first or second quarter or something. Actually, it was my first catch of the year, so it was pretty unfortunate. It was just uncomfortable. I couldn’t really push off my toe. But luckily now it’s back to normal.”

After a six-week stint on injured reserve, Miller is back on the practice field. The next step is showing the coaches that he’s in game shape.

“I feel really good,” Miller said. “It’s been a tough five or six weeks. Whatever it was. It definitely feels good to be back out there and competing with the guys. Getting back to work feels good. Really just [want to] prove that I’m ready – to the coaches and everybody. It’s different going through rehab and everything, [and then] to get out there and actually get in the huddle and to run the plays. So, just prove to everybody and myself that I’m 100 percent and ready to go.”

Miller has made two catches for 11 yards on the season, which isn’t exactly the impact he’d like to have. But in the Bucs offense, it does seem like each week there’s one player that can take over. With Miller’s game, he is always a threat for a deep shot. His signature moment scoring the halftime touchdown during the NFC Championship game last season is an example of how he’s a snap away from making an impact again.

“I know at some point it’s coming my way,” Miller said. “That’s what I think whenever I’m in practice or I’m not getting the ball in the game. I just try to stay ready. Because at some point it’s going to come my way and I have to be ready. You can’t sit there and be frustrated and be upset that it’s not right now because, if that’s your mindset, you’re not going to make the play when you have that chance. In this league, you don’t have many chances, so you have to be ready and take advantage of every one that comes your way.”
