Following the Bucs’ crushing 39-37 loss to the Texans that has caused Tampa Bay to fall to 3-5 on the season, Lucas and Bowles hit on several topics in the five-minute interview. Highlights include:
Todd Bowles on if it was less emotional after watching film of the loss at Houston:

“It was just as emotional seeing it the day after as it was while I was there. Again the coverage, we were in two-minute all the time. We didn’t make a play to get him to the sideline out of bounds and we didn’t make a play in the end zone, which is something we see every day when we run two-minute every other day. So just a bad breakdown on our part and we’ve got to own it.”
Todd Bowles on the red flag in the game for the Bucs:
“The red flag started after we went down in the second half and got the field goal and they got one play and got the long touchdown. I think that that’s when their momentum started and that’s when ours went down a little bit. But we’ve got be able to bounce back from that. I thought it took us a few series to bounce back from that.”
Todd Bowles on the 75-yard TD catch by Noah Brown, which was a momentum-changer in the third quarter:
“Wasn’t a good play we had the guy doubled. It was a leverage thing we gave up the leverage and we couldn’t catch him. It’s very disappointing. We’ve got own that. We have some prideful guys and you know their big key is to come back this week and learn from it and get better and get the bad taste out of our mouth.”
Todd Bowles on the play of the Bucs offense, which scored a season-high 37 points:

“Good job moving the football all game – run and pass. I thought Baker [Mayfield] did a good job spreading the ball around play winning football. Rachaad [White] had some key plays in there where he was running or getting check downs, opening up some spaces. And Cade Otton, who’s probably our unsung hero, he had a big game himself so they gave us a chance to win.”
Todd Bowles on how the Bucs bounce back from such a difficult loss:
“We’re all in it together we understand that but we all have to look in the mirror as well. Sometimes it’s so simple as, ‘I messed up – I played a bad game.’ Or I made a bad call as a coach and you’ve just got to bounce back from that.”
