There’s a big game in New Orleans on Sunday between the 2-1 Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the 2-1 Saints.

But somebody forgot to tell Saints Pro Bowl defensive end Cameron Jordan that.

Jordan disrespected the Bucs, who are the back-to-back NFC South champions, by dismissing them as one of the Saints’ rivals this week.

“Is there a rivalry between Tampa that I don’t know about?” Cameron Jordan said. “Like two weeks ago was there a rivalry from Carolina that I don’t know about?

“There’s only one real rivalry – and it’s not really a rivalry … but, you know. It’s the Saints and then the black and blue – I mean black and red – team over in Atlanta … that usually leaves black and blue after the game (laughs). But in terms of the other rivalries now there are NFC divisional opponents. ‘Rivalries’ is a little bit much.”

Here is the video of Jordan dissing the Bucs this week during interviews with Saints reporters.

While the Saints did win seven straight games in the regular season from 2018-2021 the Bucs did win in New Orleans in the 2020 Divisional Playoffs, ending Drew Brees’ NFL career with a crushing, 30-20 loss. That was the last time the Saints won the NFC South and that loss ended their Super Bowl aspirations. Tampa Bay went on to win Super Bowl LV at Raymond James Stadium a few weeks later.

In 2021 the Bucs won the NFC South despite being swept by the Saints that year. Tampa Bay went 13-4 and dethroned Cameron Jordan and New Orleans as division champions. Then last year, the Bucs repeated as NFC South champions, sweeping the Saints in the process.

Tampa Bay beat New Orleans in the Superdome in a 20-10 Week 2 victory in which Jameis Winston threw three fourth quarter interceptions, including a pick-six. Later in the season in Tampa, the Bucs came back to beat the Saints, 17-16, with a last-minute touchdown catch from running back Rachaad White.

Jordan has battled Bucs Pro Bowl and All-Pro tackle Tristan Wirfs for years, losing most of those one-on-one wars. Now he’ll face a new challenge in Bucs right tackle Luke Goedeke, who has replaced Wirfs. Including the playoff win in 2020, the Bucs have won three of the last five games against the Saints.

Sounds like a rivalry to me.
