Winning the Super Bowl earlier this year was a dream come true for the Tampa Bay Bucs. Can they possibly defy the odds, win it again and be triumphant at Super Bowl LVI in California?
Their Super Bowl success saw Tom Brady again show what a legend he is. His arrival in Tampa Bay and the signing of Rob Gronkowski changed everything for the Buccaneers. Sportsbooks reduced their odds on them having a successful season, but a Super Bowl victory was not expected. The team got stronger as the season progressed, ending with that 31-9 win over the Kansas City Chiefs. Not many bet on that being the margin of victory.
That’s history now though and the Bucs are in totally new territory now. They aren’t the side that had several disappointing seasons behind them. Now they are the defending Super Bowl champions, the team that every other one in the NFL wants to defeat.
First in line will be the Dallas Cowboys who are on the road at Tampa Bay on September 9. That’s the first game of a long season and the odds favor the Buccaneers to begin with a win.

Being able to bet on the NFL is still a relatively new experience. Sports betting still hasn’t been legalized in Florida, but it could well be on the way sooner rather than later. It’s been a long time coming though and it’s three years since the landmark US Supreme Court Judge ruling. That left the decision whether or not to legalize betting to each individual state, not the Federal Government.
Fans have long wanted to be able to legally bet on sport. Just imagine the joy when your selection scores a touchdown or gets that vital field goal. Many states have legalized gambling, especially on sport. This has led to gamblers being able to legally bet on sport and casino games, while the politicians count all the tax revenue now coming their way.
That’s been the case in the state of Illinois. The necessary legislation was passed in June 2019 (a better pass than even Brady can manage?) and the first legal sports bets started being placed the following year.
Now gamblers love to be placing bets on the Chicago Bears and other sports teams in and out of the state at sportsbooks run by companies such as Barstool, DraftKings and FanDuel. Gamblers will be keen on claiming the attractive Bonus at Betrivers Illinois all part of the experience of betting with highly respected online betting companies. Florida has a lot to look forward to and not just the possibility of another Super Bowl win for the Buccaneers.
Would taking the odds on a Buccaneers Super Bowl victory in February 22 be a good bet to make? Not since 2004 has a team won two successive Super Bowls. Tom Brady will know all about that of course. It’d be another feather in his cap if he could also achieve that feat with the Buccaneers.
If something isn’t broken, why change it? That’s what the Buccaneers have done for the new season. All 22 members of their championship team have either been re-signed or remain under contract for this new campaign. They are the first team to do that since the arrival of the NFL salary cap era.
Getting new players in hasn’t been an easy task with little space left in their salary space. The additions of Joe Tryon and Giovani Bernard look promising. The level of continuity in Tampa Bay is a real challenge to every other side in the NFL. You can almost hear them shouting ‘We did it once, we can do it again.’
