As an FSU fan I'm quite pleased with our class.  I don't think there were any major surprises. We mostly kept our commits and stole a couple others on signing day.  Admittedly, we lost Harris (QB/athlete) out of Miami area to UF.  I suppose that was a negative even though many were saying he was a likely candidate to flip(to Miami, UF or Auburn) so it wasn't a surprise. Same thing with a DT out of SC who was committed to us who flipped  back to SC.  Recruiting sites were saying all along he was likely to flip and stay in state to play for SC.We did snatch a couple VT commits(4 star WR and 4 star DT) away from them on signing day so that was cool.  We need depth at those spots. The big thing that jumps out at me is what we did on offense.  Despite his rep, Jimbo has actually leaned towards defense the last couple years with recruiting but this year we stocked up on offense.  We had a really nice haul at OL(quantity & quality) and WR( two 5 stars and a 4-star).  Between the OL haul, Davin Cook at RB( FL Mr. Football and early enrollee) and the 3 blue-chip WRs offense highlights the class. Added bonus: Cook and Ermon Lane WR were one-time UF commits.  If I had to nitpick we could have used more depth at CB and I think on the DL we may have leaned a bit towards quantity over quality.  Those two spots should be emphasized next year.  How did your teams do fellas?  The SEC cleaned up as usual. But I like the fact that even though we are deep in SEC country, we still go toe to toe with the SEC for elite recruits.  We've established a beachhead in  the top 5 recruiting rankings surrounded by SEC teams who dominate the top tier of recruiting.

i havent paid much attention.  as a UF fan, im waiting till winston is gone!  i am pretty excited about UFs new offense, but think it will take a while before we have a qb who can run it.  was glad to see UF got some linemen.

i think UF could bounce back this year.  too much talent to have a record like that.  just ravaged by injuries this year.  big question is, if Muschamp is on hot seat how many wins is enough to keep his gig?

Will Grier was a great signing. Going to be a good QB.

Many UF people i know are high on him.  That's why I'm wondering why Harris flipped there.  Harris' thing is he wants to play QB yet he is coming in the same class with the more highly touted Grier.  I thought Auburn would have been a better spot for Harris if he was going to flip.  I give Muschamp credit.  I was hoping the 4-8 season and him on the hot seat would put a large dent in your recruiting class but he still put together a top 10 group.  It goes to show you how strong the UF brand still is in this state.

It is odd about Harris. I don't see any qbs on UFs roster that can help much this coming year. Will be interesting to see how brisket does at NC st.

Makes sense for Harris really.  QB situation is wide open at Florida. Granted Grier is more highly touted , but they will both be freshman with really no other competition once Driskel leaves after this season. If he is confident in his ability and wants to play early ,  Florida is his shot.

Probably because Jimbo's going around talking about how long Winston will be staying ....scared him off.

ha, i'd love for that to happen but I'll believe it when i see it. hard to pass on being a high 1st rd pick.

Would have been similar from a competition standpoint at FSU. Winston starts in 2014 and then goes pro then the job is wide open in 2015.  I think at FSU the deal is that we run more of a pro-style system and at UF they are going to use more shotgun/spread concepts and that probably fits him better.  but can he beat out Grier?  if he doesn't does he transfer?  switch positions?

Harris can compete with Grier from day 1 to be the starter. he doesn't fit Jimbo's pro style offense that well and he doesn't have a great arm, hes got average arm strength but he fits in a spread system very well and im assuming Roper will install Duke's offense at UF which suits his physical talents. shorter passes to receivers in space and makes use of his legsif Harris came to FSU he has to wait at least a year minimum for Winston to leave and possibly 2 (although im skeptical Jameis stays that long). he also has to beat out Maguire, John Franklin and JJ Cosentino for the job as well. hes got much better odds at UF

With the loss of Jernigan to the draff I sure  like the sound of this concerning dt Demarcus Christmas....Fisher quote:"If Christmas would have gone to some rivals camps, he would be been the No. 1 or 2 player in the whole country. The guy commits, says 'I'm going to Florida State, I don't want to talk to any coaches, I don't want to go to no rivals camps, no Under Armour All-America game, I'm going to Florida State.' If he would have, he would've been ranked at the top of everybody's board. Everybody we asked, the first guy to come out of their mouth was 'That's the best football player we've played against in 10 years. Demarcus Christmas. Everybody. I never had so many coaches tell me he was the best player. Even coaches from Miami and the players in Miami. When guys in Miami give you credit, they don't give nobody credit. I say that jokingly. It's great football, which it is. Every school that ever played against that guy mentioned him."Anyone see him play High School ball?

Not only Fisher, but Winston, his family, and friends state he is going to be at FSU for 2 more years due to several factors:  He wants his degree, He wants to play baseball at least 2 more years, and He wishes to emulate Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders path.  Like Andrew Luck staying an additional season after it was stated he would be the first pick in the NFL draft he opted to stay an additional year.  Didn't seem to hurt his draft status? Winston will only be 22 in two years. The money will be there either way for someone as athletically gifted as Winston.  It is called covering all your options.  Novel concept?I understand that to some Winston his family friends and Fisher are all lying but at this point in time I don't believe that is the case given their past history. I just don't see them being untruthful and I think the recent transfer of Coker is an additional proof that the statement is true. How many believe Coker will be the starting QB for the season opener for Bama with only a Summer of practice?  Not me...

The money will not be there if he has a career ending knee injury.  He's not covering any options by staying the extra year

Not to mention, he is probably trying to avoid a civil suit..........not sure how that would work out but I have heard rumblings of this as well.

I will believe in a Civil suit when it is actually filed.  Since Winston was never charged after (2) criminal justice reviews all a Civil suit will end up doing is dragging the girl through the mud further. She already has (3) different stories on what happened. This is strictly a shake down for a money grab by the Lesbian Gator lawyer.  Problem is unlike the Duke case this one was dead in the water before it even got started.  Must admit "the timing" of Carroll's releases are just too convenient to not appear totally contrived.
