When a longtime UF journalist makes a statement about the Gators biggest rival it might actually have some validity.... http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2014-01-11/sports/os-mike-bianchi-fsu-best-florida-champion-0112-20140111_1_florida-state-seminoles-roberto-aguayo-fsu-team
i read that and I'm a big Nole fan and alum (c/o 2000) but I don't know if I'd go that far.
bianchi is a potstirrer, not a fan of any one team. he writes articles to get a rise. and hes very good at it. i would certainly agree that this years fsu was the most dominant team of all time, but that doesnt make them the best imo.
I don't think this was FSU's best championship team. I'd take Charlie Ward's 1993 team in a game vs. Winston's 2013 team.

id take this team 100 times over the 1993 teamthat being said I cant agree with him knowing about 2001 Miami. that team was just insane

Charlie Ward is my all-time favorite college football player but I'd have to take the 2013 over the 1993 team. Only because of the loss to Notre Dame.Man, Charlie Ward was something else. Looking back now, he was truly ahead of his time.

The 1993 team played 7 teams that were ranked 17th or higher. They were a really good, battle-tested team. Their lone loss was to the #2 team in the country by one score, and they ending up beating a really, really good Tommie Frasier/Lawrence Phillips-led Nebraska team in the title game. The 2013 team certainly dominated more, largely because of a weak schedule, but I believe the Charlie Ward/Derrick Brooks team would beat them.My overall point is this thread is ridiculous. I'm not even sure this was FSU's best championship team, much less the best in the history of Florida football.
Miami is often suggested as the greatest team all time but...Why is the fact that FSU never struggled until the Auburn game ( with them knowing the plays the first half) diminish the accomplishment? When Miami struggled to beat the Vick less VT team (That FSU beat 30-17) or barely squeezed by BC team are those games completely dismissed and ignored?Seriously does anyone believe Nebraska 2001 compares to Auburn this year?Miami didn't play Florida in 2001 so FSU beating a 4-8 Florida team that was ranked highly in the pre season (#10) shouldn't penalize FSU. Miami played a 10-2 Syracuse team and a 11-2 Nebraska team that was absolutely humiliated in their final game before the bowls. FSU beat a 12-2 Auburn team and a 11-2 Clemson team for its 2 most noteworthy opponents. While I believe that the Miami team in 2001 had one of the best OL's in CFB history there was nothing really special about their QB. I guess IMO too much praise is being put on that 2001 Miami team. To me it is all about their performance over the entire year. Where is Ken Dorsey today? Bottom line FSU had arguably it best season in its history and that deserves not to be diminished in any way just because the Final game was an exciting come from behind victory against a far more worthy opponent than the Nebraska team Miami faced.Rankings of teams played? The rankings change every week which is more valid? The Pre Season? When they Play? End of season?FSU played a beat soundly 7 of 8 teams that played in bowl games. The only close game was against Auburn which would have destroyed the 2001 Nebraska team.Despite Bianchi's pot stirring ways he has always been a UF homer. Now sure he will be critical of UF but every time that happens he manages to include a dig at FSU to soften the blow by the same token every time he praises FSU he always puts in some UF fluff diminishing the accomplishment. This is probably the first article I have seen praising FSU without a UF reference.

I always felt the 1993 team didn't get enough credit but they did in fact lose to Notre Dame and that eliminates them. They also struggled against both Nebraska and Florida. Yes they were better teams than many 2013 FSU faced, but this 2013 team set some incredible records. 14-0 is exceptional.
Someone actually read an article that Bianchi wrote? Dude doesn't know a thing about football when it comes to actual X's and O's.

Neither do you.Now take yo ass back to your traffic-less board!!!!!NOW!
Thinking back, there has been some amazing collegiate talent in the Sunshine state.Would love to see a discussion started regarding the All-Time top 22 players!11 on offense - 11 on defense.Just think.....Ray Lewis and Derrick Brooks team up at LBEd Reed and Sean Taylor patrolling at safety. Deion locking down his man.Sapp killing the QB.Emmitt Smith at RB.Tons of WR to throw to (Blitnekoff, Irvin, Santana Moss, take your pick)Oh, the possibilities......

2013 AU couldn't "destroy" anyone worth a damn. And your comment about Ken Dorsey is rubbish. What a player does after college shouldn't do anything to diminish their college career.
Some of those Miami teams back in the day were sick. They'd have beaten any FSU or Gator team , and that is coming from a Gator fan.

They played FSU every damn one of those years. Hence, why FSU has 3 NCs and not 6 NCs. The Gators, well, put that shlt on hiatus.
