So why won't Alabama play FSU at Doak Campbell? They scared? ;D
Bobby didn't build FSU from scratch. Their first season was 1947. LOLFSU had the first undefeated CFB team in the history of the state in 1950 (Prior to Saban, LSU's most recent title was in the 50's, just sayin')They had experienced moderate success at times, before Bowden. They might have sucked for a while just prior to his arrival, but he what he did, and what Leavitt did aren't even comparable on any level.
Okay, so I went overboard with the Leavitt comparison, but FSU was a nothing football team (kinda like a Toledo, if you will) when he took over. To turn FSU into what it was in the 80s, 90s, and the 00s is nothing short of amazing. Saban will never have that feather in his cap.
I'll ask again..... Is it possible for Saban to do anything to pass Bobby in your eyes, or would he had to have stayed at Toledo, and had similar success to Bowden at FSU?
Now, no. But with a few more championships and/or, say a climb to the top 5 in all-time FBS wins.......then yes, I will give him the nod. I will be absolutely stunned if he does not get into the top 5 in wins before all is said and done. He is a great football mind. He is the Belechek of CFB. He will always have successful teams. Look at that, Miyagi, an opposing fan acting rational. Wow.......what a concept!

Whether or not this is acting rational is debatable, as the vast majority of the CFB world already views Saban>Bowden, with the minority being comprised almost strictly of FSU fans, and only Noles (maybe your random WVU fan) view him as he GoAT.Not sure where you get the idea that I have it out for FSU. I just tell it like it is. Maybe because I have to put Runole in his place so often, but if you can't recognize his idiocy, then you are as biased as they come. You never call him out for it, so you have that against you. As you can see, I have no problem calling out Gators and loony SEC fans when it's deserved.
Do some research.....I have definitely called out RUNole. He takes CFB too damn seriously.......This shlt is just a game at the end of the day for me. I hope it is for you, too.
Game?I'm a Bama fan.... You think this is a game to me?!?!
The critical difference between myself in MrFreakinMiyagi is I don't have to insult and call him names or attempt to put him in his place. He needs no help in showing his lack of character through his own words.Notice how he ignores the simple question...So why won't Alabama play FSU at Doak Campbell? They scared? ;DHey MrFreakinMiyagi have you got a second? I would like to run something by you. ;D :P
Notice how he ignores the simple question...So why won't Alabama play FSU at Doak Campbell? They scared?
I dunno. I'd love a home and home between the two, but you know how things are these days in the CFB landscape. Most top teams typically play one "tough" OOC game a year, and Bama's game in recent years has been the Chick-fil-a game or the game in Texas to start the season. They did recently play a home and home with Penn State, which I pointed out when you specifically asked why they won't go to Penn State, and you ignored. Tell me, is ignorance really bliss??I do know why FSU hasn't played Bama in the Chick-fil-a kickoff game, as Jimbo has already addressed the question:
Someone approached Fisher recently about playing in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff, perhaps against Alabama, in the near future. The new Florida State coach, who worked for Saban at LSU, nixed the idea."People were saying, `Why don’t you open up with Alabama or somebody in that Chick-fil-A Kickoff?' " Fisher said. "I said, `Listen, our big non-conference game, we already have Florida. I don’t need to go pick up Alabama or Auburn or Tennessee or somebody like that.' "
http://blog.al.com/kevin-scarbinsky/2010/05/dont_expect_another_alabama-fl.html C'mon Jimbo, I think you could handle Tennessee.I'll give credit where credit is due, and recognize that maybe Jimbo has had a change of heart by opening against Okie State next season in Texas. Maybe the future does hold another neutral site game between Bama and FSU. Maybe there will be a home and home some day. Who knows? Maybe Bama is scared. They already have to navigate the toughest division in the toughest conference every year, and if they are as successful as they hope to be, they then have to play a difficult SEC East opponent. They don't have the luxury of playing in the worst division in the BCS and playing teams like Duke in their conference title game.
Quit exaggerating about the toughness of Alabama's schedule Over the last 25 years FSU is the only school that plays (2) of the top 6 every year. If every SEC played every other SEC team you would have a valid point. SOS continues to be the most inaccurate measure in CFB.That being said due to cancellations of games brought on by expansion FSU has played a weaker schedule than normal the last few years. Next year FSU's schedule will improve considerably.with not only Florida but Oklahoma St and Notre Dame present. The point is FSU and Bama have played 4 times 2 at Tuscaloosa 1 at Birmingham and the most recent a victory by FSU in Jax with Saban as HC. Overall record 2-1-1 in favor of Bama. Looks pretty even to me.... Think it is time for Bama to schedule a game at Doak. If a real playoff is put into place with a guaranteed spot for every conference champ plus 3 on merit perhaps there will actually be more meaningful out of conference games scheduled by everyone. The BCS and other previous systems before encourage weaker schedules. 4 teams are a start but still not enough.
Quit exaggerating about the toughness of Alabama's schedule
Quit knocking it. They play in the toughest division in the game. FACTTo win the BCS this year. AU will have played 3 top 8 (Mizzou was top 5 before the SEC Championship game) in a row.
Over the last 25 years FSU is the only school that plays (2) of the top 6 every year.
Quit making shit up. FSU hasn't played a top 10, let alone 6 team yet this year. They won't until they face a team from the same division as Bama in the Championship game.
If every SEC played every other SEC team you would have a valid point. SOS continues to be the most inaccurate measure in CFB.
You pull Sagarin's SOS rating earlier his year to show that FSU and Bama's schedules weren't far off. I wonder why you write off SOS now???
That being said due to cancellations of games brought on by expansion FSU has played a weaker schedule than normal the last few years.
And they finally get to the promised land. Go figure.Oh, and WVU sucked this year. They wouldn't have helped FSU's SOS much at all.
Next year FSU's schedule will improve considerably.with not only Florida but Oklahoma St and Notre Dame present.
Good for them
The point is FSU and Bama have played 4 times 2 at Tuscaloosa 1 at Birmingham and the most recent a victory by FSU in Jax with Saban as HC. Overall record 2-1-1 in favor of Bama. Looks pretty even to me.... Think it is time for Bama to schedule a game at Doak.
The game in Jax wasn't a win. FSU had to vacate it, but you know this.I have no clue when the other games took place. Probably not in my lifetime. You must be pretty out of touch with the landscape of current CFB to think that Bama should just go ahead and play an away game at FSU, because FSU played in Tuscaloosa in the 70's. Games played 40-50 years ago have no bearing on games being played today. Quit being an intellectually dishonest jackass.Especially if you are going to conveniently ignore FSU's own coach stating that he has no interest in playing Bama at a neutral site.
If a real playoff is put into place with a guaranteed spot for every conference champ plus 3 on merit perhaps there will actually be more meaningful out of conference games scheduled by everyone.
NawI'd rather they take the best teams. I get why you hate that idea, because there would always be so many SEC team there, and the ACC champ might be snubbed, but considering the SEC always whoops up on the ACC, how can you justify a Clemson or FSU team that just got beat getting in over the South Carolina or UF team that just beat them?Who from the Big 10 last year (tOSU being on probation) would have deserved it?
The BCS and other previous systems before encourage weaker schedules. 4 teams are a start but still not enough.
The BCS does a damn good job of finding the best team over the course of the year in CFB. It's been a much more accurate system, when it comes to determining the best, than the NFL playoff system. When's the last time the best team in the country didn't take the crystal home? That being said, I look forward to a playoff format. It'll be more fun. I also hope they expand it as well.
Quit exaggerating about the toughness of Alabama's schedule
Quit knocking it. They play in the toughest division in the game. FACTTo win the BCS this year. AU will have played 3 top 8 (Mizzou was top 5 before the SEC Championship game) in a row.
Anyone that believes in poll ratings as a measure of SOS is poor speculation since the ratings change every week. How can that ever be a truly accurate measure of SOS?Bethune Cookman would have knocked off many teams in that TOUGHEST DIVISION in the game. IMO I will give you Auburn and LSU but as to the rest not much else. Auburn and Missouri both had Cinderella seasons and you and I both know it. GOT A SECOND? I WANT TO RUN SOMETHING BY YOU.Over the last 25 years FSU is the only school that plays (2) of the top 6 every year.

Hey if FSU stomps the highly rated Auburn into a mud hole are you man enough to admit FSU is the best in the land?
That being said due to cancellations of games brought on by expansion FSU has played a weaker schedule than normal the last few years.
And they finally get to the promised land. Go figure.Oh, and WVU sucked this year. They wouldn't have helped FSU's SOS much at all.Didn't say they were but they did beat Oklahoma State Since you want to brag about Alabama's schedule Please tell me how tough Georgia St, Arkansas ,Kentucky, Colorado St, Tennessee, and Chattanooga were in football this year? How many of those teams are being rewarded with bowl games?
Next year FSU's schedule will improve considerably.with not only Florida but Oklahoma St and Notre Dame present.
Good for them

The game in Jax wasn't a win. FSU had to vacate it, but you know this.Seriously Vacated win? Hey what ever makes you feel good about yourself... I think i will stick to what happened on the field over something that will be changed in the future by the NCAA. Hey the NCAA succeeded in doing what they wanted.... They made you feel better about yourself... LOL Of course the reality... Bama with Saban got beat by FSU... lol.I have no clue when the other games took place. Probably not in my lifetime. You win your conference you get that chance. Oh and FSU just handed UF their worst loss of the season and beat them 3 out of the last 4 years. Clemson? When's the last time the best team in the country didn't take the crystal home?An arbitrary champion game where 2 champions are picked by a vote is a flawed concept. Unless everyone played the same schedules it is just not the way a champion should be produced. Guess that is why the NCAA doesn't recognize it and it is called Mythical by those that use logic and reasoning versus a beauty contest controlled by a biased vote on a poll that changes every week . If it truly was an accurate system why doesn't any other level of football use the same process? Why do you think there is now a 4 team playoff on the horizon? That being said, I look forward to a playoff format. It'll be more fun. I also hope they expand it as well.
See how easy that is without all the personal vitriol? Hey no need to take out your disappointment on Bama blowing it. FSU isn't Auburn.
Quit exaggerating about the toughness of Alabama's schedule

I guess that's why you used SOS for your argument early in the season, but disregard it now.
Bethune Cookman would have knocked off many teams in that TOUGHEST DIVISION in the game. IMO I will give you Auburn and LSU but as to the rest not much else. Auburn and Missouri both had Cinderella seasons and you and I both know it. GOT A SECOND? I WANT TO RUN SOMETHING BY YOU.
That's rich. Who would BCC have beaten from the West?
Don't believe Polls or SOS are accurate measures of the sport . Hey if FSU stomps the highly rated Auburn into a mud hole are you man enough to admit FSU is the best in the land?
You said yourself that AU is having a "cinderella season". They aren't the 2nd best team in the land this year, and the transitive property does not apply to college football. But I would agree that FSU is probably the best team in the land should they beat AU. It's a shame that Bama isn't there though. FSU and Bama are the 2 best, and it's no secret. But Bama/AU, in essence, was a playoff game, and Bama blew it.
That being said due to cancellations of games brought on by expansion FSU has played a weaker schedule than normal the last few years.
And they finally get to the promised land. Go figure.Oh, and WVU sucked this year. They wouldn't have helped FSU's SOS much at all.

I haven't really been "bragging" about Bama's schedule. I just knock FSU's, because it was pathetic. They play in the weakest division, in the weakest conference in the BCS.

Yes, it was vacated, because FSU broke the rules, and got caught. And I really don't care that FSU beat Bama in Saban's first season. Nobody does..
I have no clue when the other games took place. Probably not in my lifetime. You must be pretty out of touch with the landscape of current CFB to think that Bama should just go ahead and play an away game at FSU, because FSU played in Tuscaloosa in the 70's. I'm not talking about this year necessarily. Every level of football may have a playoff system, and it's super fun, but the best team doesn't win as frequently as in the BCS.
How it would work this season...Using the following criteria conference champions (5) + 3 at large ( no more than 2 teams from any top 5 conference. Why do the Conference Champs get an auto bid? Why no more than 2 teams from a single conference? Why not take the 8 best teams, instead of teams that have no business being there? You really have a hard on for trying to screw the SEC. You shouldn't. FSU could have joined, and be playing the best. They chose not to, and instead play in a pathetic conference.

I ask again..... When was the last time that the best team didn't take home the Crystal? Hate on the BCS all you want, but it has proven to be effective at picking the best.
Who from the Big 10 last year (tOSU being on probation) would have deserved it? The winner of the Big 10 championship game.
No, they wouldn't have deserved it at all.
The BCS and other previous systems before encourage weaker schedules. 4 teams are a start but still not enough.
The BCS does a damn good job of finding the best team over the course of the year in CFB. It's been a much more accurate system, when it comes to determining the best, than the NFL playoff system. You may find the concept flawed, but it has proven to be effective. What you propose is deeply flawed.I ask AGAIN..... When was the last time the best team didn't take home the crystal?
I guess that's why you used SOS for your argument early in the season, but disregard it now.NopeI have always stated that the SOS argument is flawed and only have stated that Sagarin is probably the best though he favors the Pac 12 and SEC every year.I'm not talking about this year necessarily.Every level of football may have a playoff system, and it's super fun, but the best team doesn't win as frequently as in the BCS.Than they are not the best team. There is such a diversity in scheduling if they are the best team they need to play a couple of tough games out of conference in a play off and prove it.Hey you claim that every ACC team is weaker than every SEC team. I want to see the best of each face each other in a playoff. Why do the Conference Champs get an auto bid? Why no more than 2 teams from a single conference? Why not take the 8 best teams, instead of teams that have no business being there?Just your opinion and that is not the way to determine who is the best.Because how do you actually know who the best teams are? You win your conference championship and you are in Why be so fearful of playing another conference champion? You really have a hard on for trying to screw the SEC. You shouldn't. FSU could have joined, and be playing the best. They chose not to, and instead play in a pathetic conference. Not trying to screw anyone. I just don't trust the highly manipulated polls that change every week. Oh and you keep harping on the perpetual dead horse of FSU not choosing the SEC.With the recent conference expansion why didn't the SEC offer Clemson and FSU? and instead chose A&M and Missouri.? So why no offer?I ask again..... When was the last time that the best team didn't take home the Crystal? Hate on the BCS all you want, but it has proven to be effective at picking the best.So LSU playing Alabama twice is clearly a logical way of determining the best to teams in the country? That is ridiculous. Looks like a split to me. Having them play 3 times isn't the answer either. When you vote on what 2 get in it is filled with bias No, they wouldn't have deserved it at allThat is just your opinion. If you quit pole huffing on the SEC you might understand how silly that assertion is. You can believe all you want that every team in the BIG TEN sucks I just want it proven on the field rather than out of someone declaring it out their pie hole. You may find the concept flawed, but it has proven to be effective. What you propose is deeply flawed. Not as flawed as pretending that (2) teams out of 120 can be declared the best without playing over 90% of the other teams in the FBS.I ask AGAIN..... When was the last time the best team didn't take home the crystal? So why aren't they called NCAA national champions? Just declaring they are the best doesn't make it so. Let me put it another way If Ohio State had won and faced FSU and lost convincingly to FSU would you believe FSU was clearly the best team in the country no questions asked? Hey I will enjoy the MNC game trophy but it still won't be what I consider a real championship though I guess you will! So If FSU trounces Auburn should it be considered the most dominating season by any team in the history of modern football since Division 1a broke away in1978 from 1aa?
I guess that's why you used SOS for your argument early in the season, but disregard it now.NopeI have always stated that the SOS argument is flawed and only have stated that Sagarin is probably the best though he favors the Pac 12 and SEC every year.
And Sagarin has the ACC Atlantic as the weakest BCS division. Of course you find it flawed...... Now
Every level of football may have a playoff system, and it's super fun, but the best team doesn't win as frequently as in the BCS.Than they are not the best team.
Who isn't? The BCS winner? They get it right more often than the NFL does..
Hey you claim that every ACC team is weaker than every SEC team.
Never once said this
I want to see the best of each face each other in a playoff.
I want to see the best play each other, period.
It has nothing to do with being fearful.
You really have a hard on for trying to screw the SEC. You shouldn't. FSU could have joined, and be playing the best. They chose not to, and instead play in a pathetic conference. Not trying to screw anyone. I just don't trust the highly manipulated polls that change every week.
But you trust them to pick 3 at large bids.... as long as they aren't all from the SEC.... Or even two of them. This sounds more fearful to me.
Oh and you keep harping on the perpetual dead horse of FSU not choosing the SEC.With the recent conference expansion why didn't the SEC offer Clemson and FSU? and instead chose A&M and Missouri.? So why no offer?
No idea. maybe it had something to do with FSU not joining when they had the chance already.
I ask again..... When was the last time that the best team didn't take home the Crystal? Hate on the BCS all you want, but it has proven to be effective at picking the best.So LSU playing Alabama twice is clearly a logical way of determining the best to teams in the country? That didn't answer my question. Are you saying that Bama wasn't the best in 2011? LSU certainly deserved to be there, and Bama trounced them.
No, they wouldn't have deserved it at allThat is just your opinion. If you quit pole huffing on the SEC you might understand how silly that assertion is. You can believe all you want that every team in the BIG TEN sucks I just want it proven on the field rather than out of someone declaring it out their pie hole.
So, a 5 loss Wisconsin with an OOC loss to Oregon State deserves it more than another team from a stronger conference, simply because that conference already has two teams in?Excellent logic.BTW Wisky got trounced in the Rose Bowl. They would have had no business being in the playoff.
You may find the concept flawed, but it has proven to be effective. What you propose is deeply flawed. Not as flawed as pretending that (2) teams out of 120 can be declared the best without playing over 90% of the other teams in the FBS.
Call it flawed, but they get it right.
I ask AGAIN.....
I see you won't answer that question. Concession noted. There will always be questions. Even with a playoff. The BCS crowns the best team at a higher rate than playoffs have proven to.
So If FSU trounces Auburn should it be considered the most dominating season by any team in the history of modern football since Division 1a broke away in1978 from 1aa?
They spent the entire season dominating cupcakes, so no.
You are entitled to your opinion and I am certainly entitled to mine. You believe that the best 2 teams should be voted on I don't. You claim the BCS is the best methodology for choosing its 2 participants. I disagree and feel that every other level of the sport has it right with playoffs. With the 4 team playoff next year it would appear that the FBS has finally realized that the methodology of picking two teams by a vote is biased and unfair. You like a Beauty contest to declare the two best teams. I don't We choose to disagree. With the way things are evolving I predict you will be very unhappy in the future as your preferred methodology finally ends next year.
You believe that the best 2 teams should be voted on I don't.
No, I don't. I said repeatedly that I am glad they are going to a playoff system, and it will bring more fun and excitement. However, as flawed as the BCS is, it has proven more effective at crowning the best team as champion, compared to say, the NFL playoffs.Your inability to name one single year where it was clear that someone other than the best team went home with the crystal speaks volumes. However, it's a rather simple thing to do with the NFL. The most recent Giants Super Bowl win is a good example.
With the way things are evolving I predict you will be very unhappy in the future as your preferred methodology finally ends next year.
Well, you'd be wrong, as I have stated many times that I look forward to the new system.I have to hand it to you. I truly am stumped as to whether you just suck so bad at reading comprehension, or are just being your normal disingenuous self this time around.
