PewterReportMC; what's going on with Scott Reynolds lately?  No Chat Room today and his FAB 5 thing was unusual to say the least.  Where the heck is his focus and I don't mean that in a critical way?

Horse it was my fault for not posting we weren't having the chat today. We held our staff Christmas party at 11:30 today, it was the only day we could get all the staff together. Then of course we had to get to One Buc at 12:15 for Schiano's press conference and then open locker room. Again, it was my fault, I meant to put a board post up this morning and got in a hurry and forgot. Sorry about that.

And I understand your issues with the Fab. In fact I told SR that most likely you would not be a huge fan of it, as I remember my McCoy story back in 2011. And we understand where you are coming from Horse. None of us can fathom the things you saw. I understand that my friend. Personally with the holiday season and the faith and family event scheduled this week I thought it was timely and it was only one section of the five. So there was still plenty of reading to do even if the first section wasn't one everyone would be interested in. But Horse Gerald is a star in the league and like Brooks, Dilfer, Dungy and many others, including several on this current team, their faith plays a big part in how they approach their job. We certainly weren't trying to cram anything down anyone's throat by any means, but whether every reader believes, it is a big part of what makes Gerald tick and we decided to run with it.I appreciate you Horse, as we can always count on a comment on nearly every story, and while we don't always agree, your passion for the Bucs and your loyalty to PewterReport.com does not go unnoticed. So thank you for the feedback, good and bad.MC

PewterReportMC; thank you and of course I accept the apology.  I understand about faith being involved and I do respect that.  If anyone has played in any kind of sport, a prayer is usually said and I went right along with it and still do, as long as it is meant in a kind and loving way that everyone plays their best.  I got it what Scott was trying to say and what Gerald was trying to say.  All I ask is that if you haven't walked the walk, then don't talk the talk.  By the way, my last assignment when I got back from Viet Nam as a Captain I was director of Logistics at the Army Chaplain School at Ft. Hamilton in Brooklyn New York.  Besides doing my job in Logistics, Notification of Killed, and Body Escort; I taught the first class to Chaplains on "How to react to the Sounds, Smells, Movements, of Body Remains while providing some kind of spiritual comfort for that Body".  I ran into a Chaplain several years ago who was now retired and he told me that class is stilling being taught with of course some modifications.  Bottom line, from the start of when a Fallen Soldier is retrieved from the battlefield; a Universal Prayer is said by all during and continuing thru the various stages of the Fallen being returned to their love ones. For years I went on a spiritual search as to why God allowed all this death to occur and from that spiritual search I found my answers for me and I do not share that with any others because it was the experiences that I needed to understand about life and love.  Now, is it possible to ask the question about why has Scott gone a different way because of a 4-9 record?  Does he feel that Schiano has turned a corner and deserves to stay with his coaches mostly intact?

I am a Christian, and as a Christian I thought Scott was a little over zealous shall we say but I got what he was trying to say and do, which was essentially a character profile of the players. Seeing as it is Faith and Football Sunday at Ray Jay it was terribly relevant. Not only that, but if PR were not to print something because someone might get offended it would be a thin publication indeed.Horse, you have your crosses to bear (no pun intended), and have obviously gone through a great deal of soul searching, but the answer is not to impose your sensitivities on other people. If you don't want to read it, don't.

Well we both have changed our views on coach Schiano somewhat Horse. Scott said it in one of his earlier Fab 5's – you report the news as you have it, with the best information you can gather. And you know what? It changes sometimes. I thought SR's willingness to look at everything was the right thing to do. I know some people say, wait until all the news is there before reporting it. But as you can see, four months later, there are still unanswered questions. We report news, but also editorialize. And a lot of the editorial opinions are formulated by the news we have. I applaud SR for taking the heat and not just sticking with his original tone. There are plenty of news people (FOX, MSNBC etc..) that appear at times to only care about the agenda, and even faced with new facts, refuse to be willing to say, "Hey maybe I need to look at everything, especially new details learned." So many want to stick with their "wants" more than write what is correct. Sometimes people afraid to be willing to change, because of stubbornness or a desire to push an agenda. I have known SR for 18 years, and he is one of the most ethical people I know. I mean that. One day it will all come out, or maybe it won't. SR told me when I first started at PewterReport.com, some things we will take to the grave. When someone says, "This absolutely can't be sourced or reported." we can't betray their trust.Horse I hope you have found some answers in your spiritual quest. We all have to do things in our own manner. I am Protestant, but I can't say someone of the Jewish or Muslim faith is wrong. They have the same passion and commitment to their religion as I do. Who am I to say what is right and wrong?  I certainly feel my choices are what is best for me, but realize they aren't for everyone. A funny story I use all the time in explaining in thinking is, Elvis Presley grew up in the Assembly of God church, but in his later years also wore a Star of David. When someone asked him why he said, "I don't want to miss heaven on a technicality."Elvis also sang a song in concert, called Walk A Mile In My Shoes. I think that could apply to anyone who is critical of you and what you have been through. Thanks for the feedback. Have a great holiday my friend.

PewterReportC; thanks for answering the question.  I too have slid back some on Schiano and if he gets one more win I am willing to accept that he gets another year.  For me, Schiano would still have to do some other things like evaluate what he got and didn't get out of his DC and OC.  I just don't believe that this present scheme will work and put us in a playoff position in the future.  I sure hope that I am incorrect because we all want to get back to the play offs.  Glennon's got 3 more game's to show us that he can be a starter; right now there are questions yet to be answered.  I was surprised about Scotts position on Penn because maybe the guy he was blocking wasn't getting to the QB, but he sure was putting enough pressure on the QB that it effected the other OL.  Our OL is questionable and I believe that Penn and Joseph have lost a step.  It would be nice in the off season if the team could work out here in the Tampa Bay Area and feed off each other.  Timing is everything and the Captains could easily organize unofficial practices on other fields.  Every team has injured players and I give cudo's for Dominik to find replacements.  I feel that Dominik has done his job; I think Schiano has a long ways to go with his present scheme concept.  Just to make sure that you and everyone else understand that I was wrong about Gerald McCoy; way wrong.  He is a leader, a fine young man, and a very good football player.

No problem Horse, and I will say if Schiano stays, I personally believe there will be shakeup on the staff, and as much as I like Sullivan, I could see him being the fall guy. Very doubtful Sheridan goes, as he is running Schiano's defense. And I will also add that this defense is very complex, one guy screws up, it can make everyone look bad, but I do think it can be very effective. But it takes pretty smart guys and a lot of time to get it down pat. I also believe that will be the what causes Schiano to lose his job if things go bad in 2014, if in fact he survives this year. Meaning the defensive scheme and philosophy if it doesn't really excel in 2014. Think about it – three legit Pro Bowlers in Revis McCoy, and David, then add in above average safeties in Barron and Goldson and some promising defensive lineman. 2014 has to be playoffs or bust and if they do, it will or won't be, in my opinion, because of the defense. hope that makes a little sense.

I am not sure I could take another turn over of the coaching staff, simply because, IMHO, it will be more of the same. New coaches, new philosophy, new players to fit the schemes, losing record for two/three years. This franchise needs stability and continuity, as do the fans. Believe it or not, I believe that a head coach should get 5 years in this win now league. I am sick of black mondays in the NFL, as a lot of good coaches get fired fixing the other regimes screw ups. The NFL is all about winning the Super Bowl and I get that, 'If you aren't first, you're last'. But at the end of the day, I want to see improvement in all three phases and a solid foundation being built for the long haul. I am a BIG sports fan, I have watched in all of pro sports franchises that are perennial .500 teams because of the turnover, always good but not great and sometimes really bad but never on the national sports map. I am not a Schiano apologist nor cheerleader but I am afraid the Bucs, if they do not develop a LONG term strategy and stick to it, will be stuck in the never-never land of sports.
