The Revis decision could have huge ramifications on this team in future years, not just 2014. I understand that you want to put your fingerprints on this team ASAP, but it is very important to know that this decision in my view, is very short sighted from a wins and losses perspective, nevermind that this willl further demoralize an already demoralized fan base. In essence this is being done to recoup a 3rd rounder vs. 4th rounder and create $5-$7 million of cap room assuming we sign a competent cornerback (Vontae Davis or Verner) to replace Revis. I really hope you arent relying on 33 year old Tillman to last 16 games as a 2nd CB. We needed a CB even with Revis, possibly 2. Now we would need to 2 or 3. Buc fans do not expect to win the Super Bowl next year. A noticeable improvement and HOPE for the future is all we ask. A Hall of Fame cornerback in his prime CAN help us win a Super Bowl in 2-3 years. Finding his replacement will still cost us big money in free agency or we can go to draft where it is likely we will have to spend multiple picks before hitting on a solid player, even then, one who will unlikely come close to matching the skill level of Revis. It is nearly impossible to believe that this team can be rebuilt into Super Bowl contention in 1 offseason. The incremental cap money can not buy us a Super Bowl ring next season. However, KEEPING REVIS FOR 2015 and 2016 might allow us to achieve that goal.  The incremental savings for releasing Revis would result in us signing Davis or Verner at CB and then would free up money to get the oft injured Saffold at guard. I prefer Revis to Davis or Verner plus Saffold. And if we dont sign a front line CB and sign Tillman, Buc fans can be assured of the same nightmares they had from watching our secondary 2 years ago. The fact that the salary cap goes up by $10 million+ in 2015 season means that Revis' contract wont be so out of line next year. By 2016 season the $16 million he is scheduled to make will be what players clearly inferior to him could be earning. So he is probably being over paid by $3- $5 million this season and $2-$4 million next season, and then fair value in 3 years- not enough to warrant tossing our 2013 1st round pick into the garbage, infuriating a tenuous fan base, and subjecting fans to a reincarnation of the 2012 secondary, (one that was nearly the worst in NFL history statistically), all for moving up 32 spots in draft and getting an incremental $8-$10 million in cap roomPlease take a deep breath and reconsider this. While you may think this is best decision for the long term, recognize that assumes you hit on your first CB pick in the draft and that Saffold or whatever lineman you sign with this pick will be healthy AND productive, both of which have been a problem for recent Buc free agent signings.  You can sign both Michael Johnson and Collins from Bengals with existing cap room and then cut Penn to free up $7 million more. $3 million more is freed up when you cut Koenen. Zuttah should be willing to take a $1 million paycut. Point being there are other places to go to get dollars for free agency this year without cutting our All Pro Cornerback. Please reconsider.
