On Wednesday Lovie Smith added Marcus Arroyo to coach the Bucs' quarterbacks. Also on Wednesday it appears the vacant GM job may not be filled by Kansas City's Chris Ballard as first thought. Tampa Bay will interview Atlanta's Lionel Vital, and also wants to speak with the Giants Marc Ross. https://www.pewterreport.com/index.php?option=com_k2&Itemid=20&view=item&layout=item&id=9561
The Glazers have handcuffed the GM position, and I have no faith that they're going to pick the right guy. They're f**king idiots. Ballard sounded good and might've been a good guy to pair up with Lovie. In two years, Bucs fans are going to be wishing for "the good ole days" of Mark Dominik. I'm crossing my fingers for the right GM. I think the Glazers just don't get that they're not qualified to pick GMs or coaches. They were lucky enough to inherit Rich McKay and an experienced personnel staff when they arrived. Since they started screwing with the organization (beginning with the firing of Dungy), the organization has become a joke.
I don't agree with the severity of your tone buccaneerNW but I agree with the gist of what you're saying. You dont' let a coach hire your GM. Remember when Gruden was making personnel decisions? Didn't work out well.
BuccanneerNW - the Glazers have to hire a coach or a GM. There's no "big bang" for building the non-player side of the team.

They could hire a consultant to do the search and interviewing. Of course they're the ones to ultimately do the hiring. I just don't think they're smart enough to pick the right one without guiding influence from someone who knows something about football. I'm waiting to see if they can find someone who is actually an upgrade over Dominik.

+1
I don't quite understand why there is concern because the GM is not hired yet. I don't expect that to happen until maybe after the Superbowl; maybe they have someone else that they would like to interview? the most important thing is happening; the coach is getting his staff together. I was very happy when they pulled the plug on the coach and quickly got their man in here. I can wait a couple weeks for the GM. It also could be that Shelton Quarles is also getting some more responsibility?
Now that there's another team searching for a GM, time does become a concern. Would hate to lose out on a GM to the Dolphins... and guess what, the Dolphins job probably will have full control over personnel. The Bucs GM position does not. And reports are confirming that Ballard is out because of the issue of final say, whether it was KC refusing to allow him to interview or Ballard refusing on his own. Nice job Glazers. As usual, you have proven yourselves to be worthless.

Must be sad to live in a world with such a negative projection of future events that havent unfolded yet..

I have no faith in the Glazers' judgement. That's basically it. Once someone is hired, I'll get on board and I'll be wishing for the best... but right now, I just think giving Lovie final say on personnel is limiting the GM options. I happen to believe that the GM is the most important position in the organization, not the head coach. Hopefully we'll get a guy with vision, great personnel judgement, and who meshes well with Lovie. But if it turns out well, I kinda believe it will be luck rather than the Glazers having a clue what they're doing.
buccaneersNW; I can understand what you are saying, but it is way too early to proclaim any negativity. I have been critical in the past on things they have, but this is just too early. Poor your throttle back and give them a month. So far I am very much on board in what has happened. Just to say good by to the past Coach was extremely important and they did it without hesitation. I give them cudo's for that. We are starting a new era so lets give them a chance to finalize everything.
By good old days of Mark Dominik are we referring to the 28-52 last 5 years?
Lovie is picking this "GM". Glazers acted fast to keep Lovie out of Detroit so he's been given the extra power. I'm assuming Lovie will have all the say on draft picks, etc. Therefore, it doesn't matter who the "GM" is. Just my opinion.

Didn't Ballard say he didn't want the job because of family? wasn't it reported that the Chiefs did not block the interview?
Don't get in the way of a good hate-on Vin. If someone can't bich about the coach, and there is no GM at the moment, they will bich about the owners and the obviously awful soon-t-be-named GM.
