The Buccaneers have added one more piece to their coaching staff, announcing Saturday that George Warhop would be their new offensive line coach, taking over for Bob Bostad. https://www.pewterreport.com/index.php?option=com_k2&Itemid=20&view=item&layout=item&id=9589
Very qualified guy, worth waiting for. Yet another good hire IMO.
I'm thinking Warhop and Tedford May end up impressed with Glennon's work ethic in getting Tedford's playbook early enough to get a good feel for the upcoming O-line blocking schemes and rhythm. Just hope he hits the weight room as well. He's impressed Lovie already("He looked me in the eye and said coach I don't know what the rules are. But, when can we get started?") Sounds like a guy who's serious about wanting to remain the starting QB.
Not to be difficult, but I suspect there are a lot of coaches who could have coached Joe Thomas into the Pro Bowl.

7 time pro bowl selection.

How true!.
Warhop has the toughest job ahead of all the coaches hired to Lovie's staff:1. Of the five projected starters...four of them are overpaid. Zuttah, Nicks, Penn, and Joseph. Two of them are realistic cap casualties (Joseph and Nicks).2. One of the backups that is under contract is overpaid and a possible cap casualty (Carimi).3. Meredith and Larsen are 2014 UFAs.4. If the Bucs were not to re-sign Larsen, Meredith and cut Nicks/Joseph/Carimi they would have only Jace Daniels as a credible interior OL on the roster. 5. Only players guaranteed to be back are Dotson and Daniels. The OL is going to see massive changes it seems.

I don't think Zuttah is going anywhere. He's not ridiculously overpaid for a starter. Also, Nicks' contract makes him virtually uncuttable - lots of guaranteed money due to be paid out this year. Best case would be for Nicks to retire because he can't play on that toe anymore, in which case I believe the Bucs are released from the obligation. Penn is not paid a ridiculous sum for a starting OT, and he is at least still serviceable. It would be great if they were able to rebuild the OL in one offseason, but it would be a magic act if they figured out a way to do it. We're gonna probably have to live with several of the same guys and a useless Nicks, and hope the new offense and coaching can get more out of them.
NW, I thought I read that Nicks was on his second and last year of guaranteed payout this year? He has more due next year?
Nicks absolutely can't be cut this year, next year we'll have some dead money but it saves $5 million net. I understand why people assume the worst with Nicks, but do we really have enough news to go on? And let's remember - even as a shadow of himself, he was capable of doing this to Karlos Dansby and Calais Campbell...(this was the week before they shut him down). I think we'll roll with Dotson, Zuttah, and Penn, with Nicks as a wild card. Joseph is a class act, but his salary is insane relative to performance. At best, he's looking at a massive pay-cut to stay. The only way I see Penn as a cap casualty is if we drafted a tackle like Matthews or Robinson. Just a guess, but Carimi won't survive (we can cut him and have $1.75 million with no dead money), and I see no reason why they'd bring back Larsen, or Meredith based on last year's play.
Thanks BR
Joseph stays. Both Lovie and Licht are high on him. Same with Penn. Our offensive line needs an upgraded blocking scheme/ mindset. And, some serious Gym time.
Contrary to what many are stating or feeling about Nicks - his 2014 salary is guaranteed against injury - seeing as he was unable to see the field in 2013 - if he is cut the team would owe him $6 million plus after Dominik re-worked his deal in 2012 pushing money in to future years that would also hit the books if cut and an additional $7 million would also accelerate - dead money in 2014 to the tune of over $13 million meaning the team would not see any savings by cutting him but would incur a deficit - unless he was a June 1st cut which would mean they could split the total hit over the 2014 and 2015 season.
I don't think Zuttah is going anywhere. He's not ridiculously overpaid for a starter.
His salary wouldn't be an issue if he was a starter. But what he is is a backup that the prior staff thought was a starter.

Nicks situation is sticky so we shall see how Licht proceeds. Zuttah and Penn will be needed to hold the fort for one more season but their replacements may be brought in sooner than we think. However, while a lot of positive things are said about Joseph the film doesn't lie unfortunately.
