First of all, neither Talibnor Blount were "cut", they were TRADED. Secondly, EVERONE seemed to be glad when Taliban was traded. More rhan a few on this board couldn't understand the Bucs not using him but finally came the conclusion that if Blount WASN'T going to be used it was better to get something for him at least. I was in that crowd.
Whether or not anyone here thought those were good moves at the time or not is completely irrelevant. This isn't an "I could have done better" thread. It's a "lets look and see what was done wrong" thread, and both of those now look like wrong moves. Talib was apparently recoverable with the right treatment and there was contribution to be had from Blount.
Surprised anyone still thinks getting rid of Blount/Talib was a mistake. I agree with the rest, but those two seem to be absolutely the right decisions.
I was all about getting Talib out of here, but in retrospect it looks pretty stupid. NE hasn't had a problem with him for a while now. Blount I never wanted gone and haven't changed my mind. He isn't particularly special, but he would have been worth keeping around.
Leaving Blount alone then, Talib is still (a) one step away from a year suspension and (b) perpetually injured. He's missed 3 games already, and was unable to finish another two more. He has permanent hip/hamstring issues. In 2012 he only played in 12 games, in 2011 13, in 2010 11 games.
Tell me again how we are better since he left.
I'm okay with getting rid of Talib since we didn't seem to be able to govern his behavior but I never saw the sense in trading Blount for a 7th rounder. I wouldn't have parted with him for less than a 5th. That said, I suppose it's telling that there was no market for his services.

Lol
How are we better? Didn't we get Spence or Gholston with the pick we got for him? Both were contributors this year with Spence being a solid starter all season and Gholston APPEARING to be coming on at the end of the season.
