If we're playing GM, I'll win championships with the defense, running game, a QB who can throw an accurate long ball, and a good FG kicker.
Yup! One of the knocks on Tampa's past offensive strategys was , after attaining a lead, go to "Prevent" mode and preserve the lead instead of keeping the metal to the metal and scoring more points (Killer instinct-put it away). I'm hoping Tampa's offensive philosophy gets rebuilt around putting lots of points up to out pace your opponent, and a defensive philosophy that makes it increasingly difficult for an opponent to score.
It's a TEAM sport, you must have both offense and defense to win any football game, I think this whole defense vs. offense argument is stupid. You have to have a good balance of both to win
If you have a dominating Defense, your Offense can just be adequate and you can still win the Super Bowl; I don't see it the other way around as much with teams who have won the Super Bowl.

Yes. I think that was proven when Tony Dungy was fired for having such a great defense with no titles. Jon Gruden added significantly to the offense and a Super Bowl win was the result. I do still believe a great defense can keep you in the mix for the title but there has to be an offense to get those key first downs, score enough points and rest that great D. I believe we're on our way to having a great D again but have a ways to go on offense. We're putting, the Buccaneers are putting a lot on Jeff Tedford to deliver right away.

Completely agree!! Has to be balanced!!
as a general rule defense is easier than offense in most sports (speed and effort versus timing etc.). But in football for sure, its much easier to build a competitive defense than it is to find a great QB (11 guys of varying talent versus one great one), so teams have to focus on defense (and running games). In short, Tom Bradys do not grow on trees.
Everyone of you have good points to ponder on. Thanks for all the inputs. Go Bucs!
