I also think Dominik did a good job on the money end and was a hit and miss draft GM. But that's not entirely on him. I don't see McKay coming back either. As long as the Bucs hire an experienced man who knows his limitations, be it college/pro personnel or CAP management and hires help accordingly I'll be OK with it.It's looking more and more like the Bucs are going to hire a HC (Lovie Smith) before a new GM so I imagine the new hire at HC will have some say. I'm interested to know WHO the Glazers are consulting now, if anyone, when so many key hires are under consideration.
I know it's just a list with some quick hitters, but I'm shocked to see the "very few negatives" attached to McKay. Sure he assembled our SB37 team and has long-standing ties here. But he also left in a pretty dismal way, and was "promoted" out of his GM spot in ATL for some pretty poor decisions - and they promptly got better for it. Just sayin'... my preference is one of the personnel gurus with experience drafting in the league over the last 8 years. Split off the business aspect to someone else.
Angelo should be the choice...No brainer...
It would appear that if Smith is hired before the GM, Smith will have the say over players and that the GM job will be mostly cap mgmt and have no real power..
Heard some buzz they may let Lovie have his hand in the cookie jar that is the GM position.
