There is only one question the Buccaneers have concerning Clowney: Does he LOVE football, or does he love the stardom? One will make him great. One will make him Ryan Leaf.

I don't know - he could love himself, and love himself BEING a star...just like Simeon Rice...

Ask Vincent Smith what he thinks about Jadeveon Clowney's passion for the game.I think he's actually able to keep solid foods down now.

I don't see the Bucs trading up. Down maybe, but not up.For one I think the Bucs will bring in their own QB. Warranted or not I see it happening. There is nothing out there really in terms of FA so there goes their 1st Round pick. After that, they do not have many picks to fill in other holes such as DL, OL to name but 2. Moving up to #2 will cost a fortune because there will be other QB teams in dire need of doing the same thing. The cost will be too much. The Bucs can sit tight, if not move down and still get a QB, and if too many QB needy teams move up, possibly Clowney will drop to them.Oh, and Bortels might have worked his way into the 1st round, not top 5. Trading up to get him would be like trading up to buy a broken pencil. Pointless.

I don't think so Spartan, when I read the report where Lovie apparently has "big plans" for Darrell Revis...I immediately laughed and thought "...wonder if that means he plans to trade him to move up and get the edge rusher he desperately needs,..?" Then - because I finally have some time, and my team isn't playing in a playoff game - I checked out the latest NFL Draft info over at WalterFootball.com. Thats when I ran across Walter's Mock draft alluding to a trade to get the Bucs up to #2.I immediately started thinking about what we have - that we don't need - that could get us up to #2?"...uh, Mr Revis, could you report to the head coach, and bring your playbook?"Not so sure on Lovie not giving Napolean Dynamite an opportunity - and that he may have an aversion to drafting a QB in the upper rounds (i.e., witnessing the drafting of Trent Dilfer, Rex Grossman, etc.). Regardless of what he says about having time to think about the significance of offense - the Cover-2 depends upon the offense not putting the defense in poor field position - as a matter of fact, it's predicated on managing field position and eliminating mistakes. I think Napolean gets plenty of room. Unlike Rex Grossman, Napolean Dynamite is not going to try and carry the team the way Rex tried - as he knows he doesn't have that level of talent. He doesn't make mistakes and he's football savvy - with the change in head coaches, this guy suddenly looks a lot more like Brad Johnson. We're gonna need a guard to replace Nicks, and Penn MIGHT have one more season in him...guards can e gotten later, you can get a LT in 2nd or 3rd.......but the edge rush is the one thing that could turn the defense elite - from aspect of Lovie's defensive philosophy.

I am thinking Lovie will be building upon his D - and then looking at Tedford's needs.  Sure do enjoy seeing that helmet hit on the 30 yard line...

This team has enough pieces to be a competitive postseason threat if they can fix a couple of things.  One is they need to get good QB play.  Whether that is from Glennon improving as he enters year two or via FA or draft doesn't matter.  The other thing is the OL.  Trading down and getting some picks to work with on the OL and having Glennon pan out would be the ideal scenario.  It fixes so much about the team, and leaves you in a great place even if Glennon fails, that I can see them rolling the dice that way.  Of course they could definitely be in love with a QB that is coming out.  Hard to say at this point about anything.

Of course, anything is possible at this point - but a shutdown cover corner is kinda superfluous for this defense - while a RDE is absolutely required....and, we don't have one.

We've drafted, and spent enough on D the last two years. I think we need to focus on the offense to improve the team over all. Dominick drafted tons of D linemen with little success. He never drafted an O linemen in his five years, and he missed on free agent Carmi, and Nicks, one of the reasons he's gone. Our D will be fine with what we have, and better coaching from Lovie, and Frazer. We need to focus our attention on the offense, and O line to get better.

The problem is one spectacular play does not make a career...consistency and playing down in an down out builds a career. Clowney had one great year, a decent year and a sub par or below average year not to mention could not mentally play through minor nicks that all football players must be able to not only play through but produce. He mentally checked out as he did not want to get hurt...ultimately it might have hurt his draft stock and could cause teams to doubt him especially if and when he gets paid...

You can't make that generalization - even his coaches admitted that he was asked to play another role this year. The only thing that might have some bearing on this is his motivation - and only because he took himself out of a few games - but interviews should clear up that issue. He is expected to be either THE top pick, or the number two overall...

I'm by no means "all in" on Clowney, but I think you have to consider him a special case in some ways. Remember that he got to watch - up-close - Marcus Lattimore go from sure-fire first rounder to 4th rounder after two horrific injuries. And everybody on the planet seemed to be telling him that he was good enough to go #1 overall last year. Those aren't easy things to juggle at such an age. Due dilligence and the interview process are going to be important with him.
