... his camp would be his management. As far as the other stuff you are saying, I am actually shocked that more readers here are not uncomfortable with Scott not reporting his "insider" knowledge. Frankly, this could probably become a national story in and of itself."Bucs Reporter Refuses To Say Why QB Was Canned"or"Bucs Reporter Is Sworn To Secrecy Over Freeman Situation."pretty juicy stuff.
I would guess its actually coon for reporters to not report background info given in confidence
I know Unc, I and others brought this up in a thread a while ago. While Scott said he wouldn't be able to report the "personal issues," the comments he made even in the chat today around the "personal issues" are very, very strong, as is his stance of "sworn secrecy." I've never seen a reporter say that comment except in relation to protecting a source. Even this quote from Scott is wild: " If anything, Schiano protected Freeman from the media, which the Freeman camp just didn't understand." What a crazy situation. I've got to imagine Profootballtalk or some other outlet will catch this story ... especially with Scott's comments today.
I think the people here are too close to the story. Why would anyone in the national press care?
... his camp would be his management.
His "camp" is Him, and his father Ron (who is also one of his agents) and his other agents. Any issues of addiction would be known, especially since he was in the official NFL substance abuse program. No way his agents, even if they weren't family, wouldn't know about it. The part about the Freeman camp not understanding he was being protected pretty clearly would refer to Josh and Ron.Addiction is a common thing these days. And addiction itself would hardly be something that you could "burn someone to the ground" with. An apology, a month at Betty Ford and constant monitoring by the league would be about the worst that would happen if that came out. Many players have had issues with addiction and worse and always get another shot. And I am not on board with the double standard I feel Scott has chosen to apply , but "Reporter sworn to secrecy" as a juicy headline? C'mon man.And you still seem to miss the part where Schiano wasn't the monster in this.
SR's not in AA. Or in recovery. Dude won't even take an aspirin.

Because Josh was one of the young, budding, starting QBs in the NFL for the past five years and his career has quickly unraveled with two NFL teams. For a TB reporter to say: "Schiano and the Bucs organization could have burned Freeman to the ground with what I know," that all makes for a pretty noteworthy story, imho.

This made me laugh.
... makes one wonder... could Freeman and Scott have a massive aspirin addiction? Just saying'
You know what's tough, it sounds like Schiano and Dom were dealt a really tough (maybe uncontrollable) situation with Josh over the summer and beginning of the year. I respect Scott for saying he was wrong for blaming Schiano for the Free situation.
Another interesting thing here is that Frazier is coaching here. If he felt that Josh was dealt a raw deal by the team (which includes the owners who signed of on it) Then I doubt he would be here.
Bingo SB. And thanks for recognizing the second part there also. Has anyone thought how easy it would have been for SR to stick to his guns on Schiano? And after Monday he could have looked like a genius. I'm telling you the guys he is a very ethical standup guy.

So do I and I really wish people would let it go. Freeman, Schiano and Dominik are no longer Buccaneers. The second A in AA has meaning. The Buccaneers have hired Lovie Smith, Leslie Frazier and Jeff Tedford over the past few days. It's a new year, a new day in Tampa Bay.............. Thank goodness!

I dont think the national view would be Free as a "budding" young QB nor to I think the national view would be that his career unraveled quickly. I think it would be that he had one good year, but never really repeated so he is like a lot of QBs in the league, just not that good. I also dont place the significance you do on the SR quote. Free skipped/was late to a bunch of practices, the Bucs didnt reveal that .. . so?To be really intrigued by the Free story you have to either be a Buc fan or be of the view that he was REALLY, REALLY good . . but for an alleged issue. I dont think the view outside of here is that Free was really good and had a "fall fro grace"
Is this thread for real? It's called "off-the-record." That means that the source provided info with the stipulation that it not be disclosed. Give me a break with the "pretty juicy stuff." It's called journalism.
There is no way in hell the "big issue" that nobody will talk about is just an addiction. Those things get out, SR isn't the only one holding back on this story, it's seemingly everyone in the media that had more than a little access to Freeman. There's always that 1 media person who will leak it and then there is no need for the others to stay silent. There was another thread where this was talked about and the only thing we could come up with (not saying it's true or that I care) was that he is gay.NOBODY is going to want to get the backlash for being the one who actually outs the first active NFL player, sure we've just seen Aaron Rodgers questioned but was it being questioned nobody knew and they backed right off when answered.
