http://grantland.com/the-triangle/starting-quarterback-texans-bucs/ He also makes the point the Bucs should consider starting Kafka. Not to tank, but because McCown and Glennon clearly are not the future. Kafka is unlikely to be, but has a higher chance to be than McCown and Glennon. I was thinking about this earlier, I wish the Bucs had signed a Pryor-type earlier - now would be the perfect time to give him a shot.Best case, you have a franchise player. Worst case the no. 1 pick.Currently, "best" case the Bucs win a couple games and lose a shot at a franchise QB. "Worst" case, we still get the no. 1 pick. So you appease some veterans and hurt the franchise. Some plan.

However, the Bucs shouldn’t be trying to win more games. No, I’m not suggesting they tank, but reaching out for veteran mediocrity in the hopes of finding a cold, unsatisfying level of competence is shortsighted and risk-averse. McCown, by definition, won’t contribute to a winning Buccaneers team during his time in Tampa. The Buccaneers’ 2015 first-round pick might, and the Bucs should want that first-round pick to be as high as possible.
