I do say Happy Holidays because I am trying to cover both Xmas and New Years since they happen so close. Don't always take that saying the wrong way.
Dal,Unfortunately, most people will. The vast majority are so sensitive about the lack now of the many many years of the general acceptance of Merry Christmas.
It's pretty much a calculated insult to say "Happy Holidays" rather than "Merry Christmas" these days rather than a sincere effort to avoid offending someone. For every one person trying to "cover both bases" there are a hundred taking perverse pleasure in wiping any reference to christianity from the common lexicon. I'm not even a christian and I see that.

Lmao. I am an Irish Catholic raised in Catholic education. I say Happy Holidays for the reason Dal mentioned AND also because in this setting I don't know who is celebrating what holiday BUT I wish them all well. Relax, nobody is trying to undo Christmas :-). I recognize the PC crowd and assault on Christians etc but c'mon ,,,Doc, Merry Christman and Happy New Year
Hey now, Happy Holidays can also refer to Festivus or Krampusnacht. Don't want to leave anybody out!
