I gave Lovie and Licht the benefit of the doubt in Free Agency when it seemed that nearly every player we brought in was a good Christian. This applied to so many of our recruits that it could not have been a coincidence, and indeed articles were written about this. This bothered me at the time simply because if adherence to a specific religion is a primary recruiting criterion, you will not get the best talent. A law firm that seeks to hire primarily Christians, or Jews, or Muslims, or Blacks or Whites will not be as good as a law firm that hires the best lawyers. The fact that so many of our free agents have been busts or mediocre suggests the need to re-think this strategy. As does the fact that our team is perceived as playing "soft."Obviously there is also the larger question of whether L&L are good evaluators of talent. But this might be part of the problem.
